    Hey guys, i'm new to the forum be gentle lol
    i've got a 1989 FZR250 2kr (i think) is it a genisis? its got the decals lol

    anyway i've been reading alot and got the names of Tbone or bruce that might be able to help me service the bike. its got 58000k's on the clock. the little bastard i bought it off of assured me that it had a full rebuild about 3000 ago but i dont believe him.

    when i stop on a hill or sometimes flat the bike dies and i have to hold the trottle open in full and it doesnt even make 2000 revs! if i turn it off and wait about 20mins then start it again its fine?
    so i think it needs a carby clean and tune along with a major service and tune up. the trottle is not reponsive either takes awhile for it to build power.

    any ideas? sorry this was typed really fast as i'm hiding at work <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

    Cheers, Gareth.

    Could just be your Exup sticking, check with the simple things first.

    if the new exhaust has just been strapped on with out re-jetting the carbs, then it may have a major impact on performance. look up exup in the search engine at the top of screen, or find it by looking where your exhaust goes from 4 to 1. the exup is under the little round(ish) shield.

    I would say it has to do with carbs. get a good mechanic to check float levels, jets, and give them carbs a really good clean. this should help a lot. The float levels on these bikes are EXTREMELY important to get just right. it can mean riding a PIG or a sweet bike. you should be able to find the fzr250 manual (in japanese) on this forum. if you cant find it, PM me your E-Mail and i will send it to you. this has all the specs (for float height), although you will have to compare with the fzr400 manual (in english) which i can also send to you if need be.

    Good luck with it!!

    Thanks Hayden,

    i've tried checking the exup but i'm still not sure. i found a little rectanlge thing with 2 cables coming out of it bolded on the left side of where all the exaust pipes come together. i reved it to see if the cales move and dont budge. i dont actaully know if thats important or not tho.

    i also took the tank cover off and the ferrings so i can try and get to the carb to see if its clean and to also check the fuel filter (its tiny, really tiny) but i dont see how i can actaully take these parts out.

    i'll post some pics soon about what i meen!

    Cheers.

    I had a REMUS pipe on mine and it ran no problems...

    '89 should have EXUP - I have seen that problemwhere the bike (not mine) will idle but not rev (even in neutral) but no-one has ever reported back that they have fixed the problem. I would have to say look at the exup adjustments, check its working properly, and check out the carbs.
