    I’m the proud owner of a Gsf250v 2000
It doesn’t want to rev past 9000 and on checking my manual I find that I have to inspect inlet cam/solenoid and associated electrikery. Would somebody pls lead me by the nose in the right direction
    Many thanks. RP

Hi mate, I've had one of these bikes and the valve train is very complicated to set correctly when doing valve clearances. The solenoid is the easy part. You should hear it click when you turn the ignition on, and after turning the bike off it will hold for about 10 seconds and then release.

To check the switching mechanism you have to remove the valve cover, which means fuel tank, air box and cooling system have to come out. There are two plugs on the side of the head, where you can manually operate the mechanisms. Do not do this unless following the manual to the letter.

I'd suggest finding someone with experience on these bikes to do it. These were officially imported but I doubt Suzuki dealers want to touch it given the age.

I wonder if it is possible to throw all that variable cam timing crap in the bin and fit earlier model cams?

Thanks for your somewhat daunting reply as I’m really not a mechanic.
The one bright spot is there is no click when the ignition is switched on or off so with a bit of luck it may just be the solenoid, which I see are available. Forgive my ignorance but is there an easy way to check anything from the outside before i lift the tapet ccover
The other two reasons are gear shift switch or Ignitor failure. I’ll look through my information as to where they are and how to check them.
Sorry that this may sound gibberish but if you don’t know you tend to ask silly questions
Unfortunately putting other cams is not an option
    All help is appreciated
