does anyone know of where i could get hold of either a new or second hand subframe that the headlights, speedo, etc bolt on too ive had no luck with wreckers as of yet

I don't know if its any help but Sydney Motorcycle Wreckers in alexandria is currently pulling apart 3 FZRs, two 2krs and one 3ln, give them a try if its not tooo far. Sounds like you might need to outsource anyway mike.
A courier wouldn't cost that much for one for anywhere on the east coast. I know that Yuki @ Southern Cross has one for both a 2KR and a 3LN but you'll be paying through the nose for them! Other than that, do an email around all the wreckers around the east coast and see if you can find one that might be slightly bent, might save you a bit.
