I have used a fuel additive carb cleaner once, results where very small improvements. Bear in mind that my carbs at the time needed allot of work done to them and now that I look back I am surprised the stuff made a difference at all. I think the idea of it is to use it on a regular basis to maintain the carbs after they have been properly cleaned.

I must say tho that this engine cleaner stuff did make a difference to the performance of my bike. It had been running very rich (100km/tank) for the first few months I owned it and god knows how long before that.

The screws in my air box seem to seal it fairly tight with the rubber seal on the air filter so no gaffa tape here.

You will need to put the tank off to one side of the bike and either take the whole air box off or just the top and the filter, just be careful when it comes to plastics and the spray.

fair enough I'll see if I can get some of the stuff. Any chance of a photo of the can?

My carbs leak a little bit from the float bowls. Someone told me the floats are probably adjusted badly because it's only the two float bowls nearest to the ground when the bike is on it's side stand. the bowls must overfill when the bike is leant over. You guys ever adjusted them yourselves? I don't really wanna pay anyone to do it. Mixture seems okay and balance seems ok. I get around 130-140 before reserve it isn't great but I've learnt to live with it.

If the seal around the flange of the bowl is right and the seal around the drain screw are right then it would be leaking into your engine and you wouldn’t see and petrol on the outside of the bowl. My guess is it is either one of these seals that are your problem. Adjusting float heights can be tricky and time consuming, best to leave it to the experts.

There is a photo of the can on one of the past pages but it has a different design on the can but the same name. It is a standard service part for all Subaru’s every 10,000km from what I am told. The guy at the parts and accessories desk will know what you are talking about.

Hey guys, gave this stuff a go today and i can honestly say my bike has never performed so well, throttle response is excellent and i feel like I need to hang on for dear life again. Give it a go. $17 can't go wring.
