I quick little story of my stupidity this morning,
I have ridden my bike to the gym and I have finished my workout and think to myself, the sun is out I might ride without my gloves, I startup my bike and then use the key to open up the boot and throw my gloves in, and then put my helmet on and ride off.
Halfway to work and I stop off to get some cash from an atm in a petrol station and I go to turn off my bike…. But my keys aren’t there!! That’s when I got that sinking feeling! House keys, car keys and most importantly my only bike key! It clicked to me where they were, (in the boot key hole) but were they still there? I was afraid to turn around and look. But to my luck there was my set of keys hanging out of the key hole! Thank ******* god! Lesson learnt go get a spare key cut!

Your ignition barrel must be stuffed - I can't get my key out while the bike's running.

Yeah I don't think you are supposed to be able to do it, But the barrel on my bike will not turn if the key is not in it, which is reasuring. It is really handy though, I don't have to turn the bike off to lock up my garage.

I am able to take my keys out while the bike is running as well, as is my housemate on his rz250r. Don't know if you are supposed to be able to or not, but I find it handy (as suggested - to lock the garage door)

I used to think I could not do it aswell, but one day I acidently did it. I think that it has something holding it in but you can pull it out.
Taking the key out like that can lead to other problems like using the killswitch and then not turning your bikes ignition off properly and comming back to a flat battery. I have walked off and noticed that the headlight is on before.
