ive been reading through this website thanx guysfor the help ive had already ive got a 2KR but i still have problems with my carbs i have a few questions
is the pilot screw on the side of carburettor no 2? i cant see how itd b that important its only on one carb thereis no other adjustment screw on the exterior of the carbs if so help me out
if so do i need to take the carbs off the rack to adjust it?

its starving for fuel i notched down the curclip on the needleso itd get more fuel big improvement but it still doesnt want to rev under full throttle and really bogs down and if u keep it on full throttle itll stall even in nuetral theres only one more notch to go but thatd mean its running full rich when i give it full throttle and spray fuel down the carbs itll rev to its peakbut itd look reall funny riding down the road with a spray bottle with fuel hehehe

ive cleaned out the whole fuel system including all the carbs
    new spark plugs etc

none of the carb specs seem to match my bike like the primary fuel jet says onthe specs an 80 mines a 72.5 but it was running fine when i bought it i put shell optimax in it and had heaps of problems since
ive spoken to many mechanics and they say its no good forany bikes
the exup valve seems to be running properly and the carbs seem to be balanced can any one please post some ideas that will help my problem

sounds like your having some probs mate.
without looking at the bike and knowing exactly what u have done its hard to tell whats exactly wrong.
the advice ill give is to drain the tank of the optimax and fill with regular unleaded. remove the air box, remove and clean the spark plugs and check that the gap is correct. buy a can of carbi clean and when its runnig spray it down the barrel of the carbi. u may want to change the fuel filter as well.
when the bike leaves the factory the carbs are set to optimum performance and should not need to be adjusted unless u do a modification to the bike, like exhaust etc. the only thing that may need to be done every once in a while is to ensure that they are synchronised.
if u have adjusted them, then try to put it back to where u think it was.
also if u have adjusted the needle and seat accidently (bent the metal part on the floats or the seat not all the way into the housing) this could add to the probs.
    good luck with it.
download the FZR400 manual this is pretty close and will give u a diagram of the carbi

thanx biker hilly i have cleaned out the fuel tank replaced fuel filter and spark plugs cleaned everything with carbi cleaner i removed a lot of carbon from the carbs i havent put the airbox back on yet as i havent fixed the probs with the carbs every thing i have done has improved the problem but still not running right so should i set the carbs back 2 where it was running bad ??? when i sprayed carbi cleaner down the carbs whilst it was running it revved to its peak no problems so this means to me its still a fuel delivery problem i have checked my fuel pump aswell no probs there its making me lose my mind its been running like this for about six months now i even rode it from brisbane to sydney to try and rectify the prob. (5th gear full throttle just to do 100kp/h i used $90 in fuel for 1000km in one day) this didnt help and the problem didnt change it still ran the same when i got here
