The pressure plates should be fine, just do the friction plates & springs.
She's making all her HP from 9k rpm thats why it slips a bit up there, that tells you the plates are worn out, replace them before they cook the pressure plates.
Good to hear the plugs are good, clean out the tank & carbies & replace the filter then you'll be on your way to peace of mind.

So the bleed of the clutch didn't do a whole lot as expected. So i will be replacing the clutch and it turns out the zx7r was among the first bikes to be fitted with a slipper clutch! Only at stock setting it isn't engaged
    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/webzxr/zxr750r/Features/slipperclutch.html
So i am going to order the more heavy duty springs and a couple of thinner steels to engage it.
While I am in there I will pull the basket out as well so i can adjust the alternator chain and my bike should sound unlike a tractor at idle again :) @cal @Willrcr15
    Saving part numbers:
92081-1033 clutch springs x6 (medium duty)
    13088-040 PLATE-FRICTION x8
    13089-026 PLATE-CLUTCH,T=2.0 x3
to go with 4 of the 7 that I should already have
    13089-1004 PLATE-CLUTCH,T=2.3
    11060-1704GASKET,CLUTCH COVER

i still find it interesting how Kwakka never had the slipper clutch "functioning" as a standard option, maybe this boils down to part sharing between models once again? :idk: *scratches chin*

i think it still functions a really tiny amount, with the higher settings i believe you burn thru clutches faster

Ok, you learn something new all the time.
    I haven't noticed any slip on mine & I'm 110kgs.
It's probably not a bad thing on the road anyway.
I tend to finish off braking late with the rear that might disguise any slip maybe but I'm not racing hard on the road either, I think you would have to be pushing pretty hard to force any slip especially with the factory road settings.
I had to replace the friction plates & springs, found her to slip at high revs when she's making all her 120hp, & I can get the front wheel to lift off in all gears through shear power & no sign of any clutch failure with standard friction plates & springs.
    Work calls.

Partzilla will want postage but probably $50 maybe less, it's been a while.
I just bought the clutch parts off ebay, there were plenty to choose from, being a bit lousey I would have bought the cheapest, I understand you are after special parts but I'm not sure it's worth it, I wouldn't tempt fate altering factory settings but that's just me, I'm a bit old & cranky at times. Like I said mines been perfect, she's done about 10ooo km's touch wood.
I did but a genuine cover gasket though, that way I knew it would fit first time & no leaks, I hate leaks!
I think it was Powerhouse on ebay I get all my brake seals from, they are very good & have everything for brakes & everything fits & they are reasonable with their prices incl postage.
Hey don't get me wrong, Partzilla are good too, postage can be a bit slow but you will get OEM parts still in the little bag's, cant get better.
My mates with one the same as your model has a crook thermostat, maybe check yours or just replace it anyway, I would for what their worth. His kept playing up, stalling, dying with power, nasty stuff if you think whats happening inside the engine to do that, anyway he replaced it after a dumb while cause he thought they were too expensive, & it's all good now.
By the way he came off his 'P's & onto his ZX7R for $1700 & he's in love, they are a great & bulletproof bike.
15000rpm & 120 brake HP & reliability, handle like early Bimota's, you've got an awesome machine, just be careful of the power & speed, watch your corners & don't be afraid to lay it into them if your too fast, DONT BRAKE, get off the seat & use your body weight to assist the bike & grip, try it you'll be pleasantly suprised & live longer.
    Enjoy.

Wow. Nice bike. It's a clean example, and I'm sure we all know, that's the best to start from......

So excuse my ignorance, what is a "slipper" clutch? What does it do?

What do you mean you are bad at downshifting?

How much did your Q ride course cost to upgrade?

Thanks mate! A slipper clutch is a race clutch that prevents compression locking of the back wheel (good for gearing down on corners).

My downshifting is actually pretty good, nice and smooth. I was just joking. But it would be nice to have the clutch do the work on the time I stuff one.

It was a one day course and cost $240 from memory.

Sooooo, a Slipper clutch is basically cheating.......

Blipping the throttle on the downchange to prevent a compression lock is the best part!

More or less haha, I doubt it sounds as cool as a throttle blip though
