    Hi All,

I'm in the situation where I need some valve shims. They're pretty easy to send around and i can swap for others if you want or we can work out some sort of agreed purchase price. I found that my suzuki bandit and yamaha fzr have the same width (I believe this is ~7.5mm wide) so it is highly likely that other Japanese 250's have the same sort of shims.

What I have available to swap are:

    2 x 1.78mm
    2 x 1.75mm
    1 x 1.72mm
    1 x 1.82mm
    2 x 1.80mm
    3 x 1.48mm
    3 x 1.50mm
    3 x 1.52mm
    5 x 1.50mm
    1 x 1.48 mm
    1 x 1.42mm

    What I need is:

    1 x 1.68mm
    2 x 1.69mm
    1 x 1.63mm
    1 x 1.64mm
    1 x 1.59mm
    2 x 1.67mm

I suppose with what I need I have targeted the intake clearance at 0.16 (for the FZR) so +/- 0.02 will still get me within spec.

If you are able to offer some assistance please get in touch. Here are a bunch of tags hoping there's some guys around who have done engine rebuilds that could maybe help (feel free to tag others to get their attention lol)...

    @Boydie77 @Simon @risky @kiffsta @Phil @Frankster

    Peace.

Don't have any bikes that need shims (for a reason).

Yeh I've got a quote from them, all up be around $60 for what I need I'm just trying to avoid too much spend where I can.

I've also given platinum motorcycles a call and as a "one off" they may consider swapping shims with me... I may give that a go, provided they have the right sizes.

It would just have been nice if someone has a packet of them and could ship me a bunch for $3 and I could do the same back.... lol much less than $60 :)

Wellllllll..... I'd like to keep this little marketplace going... because for $1 you can pretty much post what you want otherwise it's precision shims and $5 per shim plus postage... adds up depending how many you need. Still 7.48mm the F400 takes the same as the F250's.

    I have:

    1.42 x 1
    1.48 x 3
    1.50 x 8
    1.52 x 2
    1.58 x 1
    1.65 x 4
    1.68 x 2
    1.70 x 4
    1.72 x 2
    1.75 x 1
    1.78 x 5
    1.80 x 2
    1.82 x 2
    1.88 x 1
    1.90 x 2
    2.05 x 1
    2.08 x 1

    I basically need 3 x 1.55 shims (will take 1.54 - 1.56 range). Anyone?

@my67xr would you happen to have any mate? :)

Thanks I'll keep all options open. Everytime I do clearances I end up needing shims I don't have and if i buy them I end up accumulating them and never using them (unless I get another bike) so trading them out is probably a better option if I can.

I have to do the clearances on an engine in the next week or so. I doubt there will be any shims that small, but will let you know if there are.

Lost my baggie for a while... found it again phew. I'm after shims in the 1.64-1.70 range in particular if anyone wants to swap. Will swap one for one or $3.50 each posted :)
