Here are the things I would be looking for in a 2 stroke

First is the frame, these bike's were the ultimate crotch rocket and many have seen the wrong side of the pavement, look for cracks around the head stems, or welds to repair cracked frames.

The other is the engine, you will have to expect a top end rebuild at some point, the bottom end is where it gets expensive. 2 Strokes with a decent bottom end should be easy to start, I can kick my Aprilia over one handed when cold what a little bit of choke. Power valves can be challenging, stock Aprilia \ Suzuki ones should be replaced with something more suitable, ie Cougar, Code Red

Hope you get it, they are heaps of fun.

Just wondering if there are any other pitfalls to look for in these bikes?
Going to look at one in 3 or 4 days. Thanks.
