    Hi All,
Over the next week i will be starting to strip down my newly purchased 250e for some modifications. One of the things i will be looking to change is the fuel tank as i want to fit a more boxier one and without the brackets that accept the plastic side panels. Has anyone any recommendations what will fit with the least amount of modifications. Does it have to be a Suzuki or will a Honda or Yamaha fit as a replacement ?
    Thanks for any help.

I changed my tank over on my GSX. Went from the one you have to the one @Clancy1.
You will need to do some minor mods to get it to fit. The front mounts are a lot closer together so I had to cut down the mounts where the tank rubbers go. The rear mount will also need a fixing point welded on the frame as there is only one mounting tab on the replacement tank as opposed to two on original tank. This will also allow you to set up the line of the tank. Lastly I needed to slightly bend in the mounts for the coils as the slightly hit. I just bent them up with an adjustable spanner. Didn't need much but needed to be done.

Totally do-able. Could even make a bracket that bolts into the original rear mounts to eliminate the welding

One last thing. The fuel tap ended up very close to the frame on mine to the point that the tank had to sit slightly higher at the back than I would have liked.
I have modified the tap by removing the vacuum part of it and replaced it with a gasket and aluminium plate. I have had to put in an in line tap to be able to turn the fuel off now.
I did notice that there is a small flat spot on the underside of the tank about half way along that would fit a tap perfectly so might look to get the tank modified to have the tap there to eliminate the need for the extra tap. Note that I am replacing the carbs so not needing the vacuum properties
