well here is my story. about 2 months ago my bike was robbed. the police found it. well i took it to a work shop down the road. to get it checked. they said it was ok only the ignition was broken and replaced it.

now its burning rich and it over heats in traffic. on the motorways its perfect. when i say it over heats i dont mean in the red the meter only reaches half way and the bike stalls . wait for it to cool down and it starts up again. lots of white smoke (petrol smell)

    so far i

    changed the plugs
    radiator flush New coolant ,
    new engine oil
    new battery

it starts up with one push of the button now but still have the engine stall when the bike warms up.

now i have to find time to clean, balance and tune the carbs..... would that solve my problem

in case it dosent what is the valve clearance for intake and exhaust

One of the mechanics that i took the bike to told me that my tank is rusting and the rust is getting past the fuel filter and going in to the carbs.
but it think its f@*king bullshit he dosent have a f@*king clue.. my tank isnt rusting. moron

any good online stores to buy parts for my bike. any aftermarket parts.

i have rebuilt a head on my cousins cbr250

Is there anything else that i can check before i remove the head .....

its going to be a pain in the butt if i do remove it.

does any one have a manual i will pay for it...$$$

Assuming these all happened after the bike was recovered. Before taking the head off, I suggest doing a compression test. The test should give you an idea as to what the condition your rings and/or valves are in.

Have you used a flashlight and look carefully inside the tank? it usually rust at the bottom of the tank where it's hard to spot. pieces of rust particles can get through the screen and filter and mess up the carb. I had that happen before, and rust prevented the float needle to seal completely, and fuel just pukes out the vent tube.

Valve clearance is 0.1 to 0.2 mm intake, 0.2 to 0.3 mm exhaust.

As for the manual, there's a pdf manual floating around, but it's all in japanese.

Two things you should look at first, i had the same problem a few months ago, temp wouldnt hit half way but overheat and stall. First thing you need to check is ur fan behind the radiator and if it works, try hooking up a bypass swicth if its the thermostatic sensor that isnt working. Remember that the fzrs are notorios for overheating in traffic. My bet is your fan doesnt work.

Secondly, my bike wouldnt start after it over heated like that and the problem was all in my carbies. Found this the hardway after taking off my head. If its running reach have a look at the mixture screws, make sure they are three out. My carbies were dirty as a tar pit due to rust from my fuel tank. Empty the tank and be 100% sure urs isnt. Your mechanic may be correct. And u might want to consider a new fuel filter.

Thats what solved my problem anyway. Get ur carbs balanced and floats re set. In the how-to section of this forum is all the information that you will need to sort out ur problems from the carbies to the fan to the rust in the tank. Hows your air filter looking?

Changing ur head gasket isnt that hard and u can check ur clearences while your at. You will know your bike pretty much back to front after that.
For the manual, search this forum for the fzr400 manual pretty much the same kettle of fish.
All the best with your bike. Have a good long look at the how-to section too.

I've never used anything as I've never had the problem. I have heard a lot on the Brotherhood about avoiding Kream at all costs. Sorry, but that's what I've heard.

Interesting. What sort of problems are they having? It worked great getting the rust out of the tank. I had quite a bit of rust spots in my tank and it's spotless after the de-rust solution. Still waiting to see how the sealant holds, but so far so good.

I know I've seen 10-12 posts over the last 2 years saying nothing but bad things about Kream, but for the life of me, I can't find a single one...

Im sure that will solve all your problems, check the fan works, if not hook up a switch. Valve clearences should be checked anyway so go for it, just remember to line everything up perfectly. good luck doing it all in one day though. Do you have all the tools to balance your carbs?
    Good luck mate,
let us know what the problem was when you are done.
