Also, go to jacyar and get a 2 pin electronic flasher relay. Cost me about 14/15$$ works a treat.

so it seems i have hit a snagged with the electrical issue of finding the right CDI....sort this out later.

pistons have been fitting with the new rings and the head is back on the bike.

need to sort out the timing issue and start reassembling.

frame is currently getting powder coated in some black which should clean things up.

After this the bike will go to someone else to figure out the fix for this issue.

Worst comes to worst i will strip the spare bike and transfer everything over (hopefully it doesnt come to this)

Timing on these bikes is very easy. Make sure you are at TDC on the right side cylinder, then align the cam sprockets EX is the number 3 is aligned with the top of the tappet cover, then make sure there are precisely 20 links between the number 2 on the EX cam and the number 1 on the IN cam.

okay! so after a long year of being distracted and losing motivation i have picked up from where i stopped.
currently wiring up the bike and its coming along slowly.

    frame has been powdercoated
    light housing painted
design for tank has been finalised just need to paint now

CDI issue has been sorted thanks to EVO's helpful diagram
Reg/Rec partially wired - have 3 white wires that need to go to the alternator but not sure in what order
Coils - 2 negatives have gone to the CDI and not sure where the positive goes to....

Progress of where i am at the moment.
have yet to start the bike after pulling it apart....im just hoping that it works *fingers crossed*

Sorting out the wiring and trying to recall where everything goes.

rough idea of how the wiring will go upon completion. all electronics have been placed under the seat.

removed all the dents and imperfections from the tank and need to lay down the colours soon.

repainted the light housing in glossy 2k.

As for the positive of the coils, I'm fairly certain the it comes straight off the battery via the kill switch. This is how I wired mine keeping in mind that I made a complete new loom but if you check the wiring diagram I'm sure it will be very similar to this.

You have a permanent 12v to the coil and the circuit is complete when the CDI pulse closes the negative to complete the circuit. Then when you hit the kill switch you loose all power to the coils.

had a look at the wiring diagram but it doesn't say much as it indicates it should be played to ignitor; i will give it a go because it does make sense.
    Cheers EVO

with the inline filter which is connected to the fuel tank ( i presume its a air fuel separator of some sort) is it necessary to run?

The clear fuel filter, i'd run it if you can.
You could make the fuel line from the tank a bit longer to hide the filter under the tank a bit more just above the carby's.

Found this behind the cover of the gearbox sprocket.... was this suppose to be in there? and if so where? cant seem to locate in the manual.

Found this lying around. i know its from the bike; any ideas where this is actually suppose to be?
dissembled the bike that long ago; remembering is getting very hard.

So im currently trying to remove the engine cover but can't figure out what else needs to be removed.
if that mechanism below has to be removed; how do i go about doing that?

    UPDATE:

I have managed to paint the left hand side of the engine; initially i wanted the raw aged look but bit the bullet and made it look new.

From the very start i have been planning on running velocity stacks of the carburetors; (read a few reviews on flat spots) but just had to do it for the aesthetic purposes. Decided to run plastic ones and have drawn up the drafts for the printing...very excited!

The top bush may be from the wheel, second one could be stand or engine mount.
To remove the engine side cover will require you to remove the big nut in the centre and slide the ignition advance mechanism off the shaft.

    thank you all!
side cover has come off and paint has been completed.

i found where the first one actually goes and how it came to be in the cover. it was from the rear engine mount (long rod); upon removal it must have dropped inside this whole time.

as for the second one; i believe it should be apart of the wheels; will inspect tomorrow.

    below result.

finished draft of the velocity stacks which are being made.

    1300mm length.

Nice work on the velocity stack design, guessing that's a typo @ 1300mm long though ?
