I go for my P's tomorrow, $182 was pretty costly. I also lose a day of work because it goes from 8:30 to 4:30. Hope to god I pass, that cone weave will probably be my weakness.
Which bike are you doing it on? With the old race replicas the U turn will be very hard if not impossible. Might be best to do the test on the across.
I actually recently sold the across for 1000$ to help a friend get into motorbikes. I took a massive 1500$ loss with that bike =(. But yeah no choice but to do it on the mc22. To tell you the truth I haven't felt this scared or worried in a long time. Its a pretty ridiculous test if you ask me. Like the emergency stop and the swerve sure, but a cone weave!? do that on the road and ur asking for a reckless driving fine.
You sure you can't borrow the across back for a day? The u-turn in a box will be a disaster on a ZXR/CBR/GSXR/FZR 250
Don't say that you have to believe!!!!! Its tomorrow there is no time left to arrange such things. The gods will look after me... I hope.
If you fail the test it's another $52 to retry. I know because I failed the quick stop on my Ninja 250R. You won't have that issue with the CBR, dual front discs are great. What you can also do, is ask someone on the day if you can borrow their bike when the actual test is done. It does not matter which bike you use as long as it's LAMS approved and registered. If you do this, best to have a quick ride of the bike and feel out the steering, acceleration, and both front & rear brakes. When I re-did my test, some guy had a 350cc chopper thing with the forks at a 45 degree angle. It was simply too long to complete the test, so he borrowed someone else's Honda CB250 and did the test without an issue.
I will just have to nail the head checks, the brake test and the swerve test and hopefully a foot down on the u turn or weave wont kill me.
You will accumulate points for missing a head check each time you move away from a stop. You will also accumulate points for putting your feet down, stalling. "Performing an unsafe act" is an instant failure, as is failing to follow instructions from the instructor Of course you do practice runs first, if you have trouble with the u-turn on the CBR you'd be wise to borrow a bike of someone there with a better turning circle. Just don't want you to have to pay more cash to our *beloved* government!!!
Passed perfect. All the instructors said they have wave after wave of RRs failing the u turn saying the bike can't do it and that I just proved them all wrong. Perfect score like my misses yay!!!!!
