right, just changed the cylinder head on the bike to fix the 34th issue i have had with it and its overheating now. When i done the cylinder head swap i just used water as i had no coolant, it ran great no overheating issues rode it maybe 100km's in heavy traffic with no issues. Just changed the water to coolant on friday and now it is seriously overheating (sitting just under the red on the gauge) in traffic and slowish riding. took out the thermostat and checked it, it looks really shitty but is still opening in hot water, flushed the system and bled the air from it and it is still overheating, i have run out of ideas on what to check next. its not using water from what i can tell, used a new head gasket when i swapped the heads as well, while bleeding the system i just run it with the cap off until it starts bubbling then give it a few revs and fill up the rest, is this wrong?
Squeeze all the pipes when filling I fill rad squeeze pipes and keep filling till u can get it to drop fluid level then cap on run till warm let it cool and repeat any excess will go into catch can then top up to max level also make sure bike upright as it can cause a air bubble in system and this issue yesterday thought I got enough in but got hit on first session ended up needing a bit more
pretty sure it was just air in the system, plus the temp sensor seems abit crappy so might need to give it a good clean.
dont forget to bleed the air out of the system, there are 2 bleed bolts to get the air out, its shown in the workshop manual
it seems all good now, i would usually just wait until the thermostat opened and then top it up but used the bleed bolts, hasnt heated up again yet.
@kiffsta any more hints on where these bleed bolts are? I've found the one on the left hand of the bike but can't find the other one for the life of me. I've seen the manual but the picture isn't great.
