The motor needs 2L of oil (on the side of the engine near the oil cap you will notice it says 2000cm^3)

ALWAYS use the sightglass on the side of the bike. The oil should be halfway in the sightglass when the bike is balanced, not on a stand. The reccomended oils are 10w40, and 20w40.. I use 15w50 and it seems just fine. Some use 10w50, too.

As for coolant, fill the coolant holder with half coolant concentrate, half water. It's a much thicker mix than used in a car.

Hope that helps, and I hope I'm not wrong with the coolant thing..

If it is only just touching the top of the sight glass I wouldn’t worry but if it is more than I would consider letting a bit out from the drain plug until its dead on. Remember its 2.2L of oil if you change the filter.

As for coolant I think half and half is the normal ratio isn’t it? I just got some premixed stuff from repco, wouldn’t have used more than 2L.

if you drained the coolant from the coolant pump then filling the coolant reservoir won't help. You'll have a big air pocket throughout almost the entire coolant system...
I know this because i, too, dropped my bike recently and had to replace the crank case cover :p

fill it up the propper way (lift the fuel tank up at the front [it should just rotate on the rear hinge] and you'll see the radiator cap. poor the coolant slowly down there until it's full [and you don't get any more bubbles / hear it burbling through the system])

My filter was about $27, apparently it's more expensive because you can remove it with a socket, instead of having to punch a screwdriver into it.

Do NOT run the bike with excess oil!
A mate with a VS Commodore did a similar thing (won't even mention how much oil he had in the sump but it was ALOT more than he should've!), and ended up blowing the head gaskets!

Drain part or all of the oil from the bike, then refill to the PROPER level.
I used to put in 1.8 litres then do the rest by the sight glass.

You probably didn't go too far over.. just suck it out!
Preferably not with a hose and your mouth, I was more thinking an extended eyedropper or a pipette stolen from a chemistry lab..

Or pull the drain plug and let a tiny bit out, replug, check, repeat.

Next time try to top it up by teeny amounts when you near the sightglass, like how koma said.

Thanks guys. i'll do that "sucking out" business... draining it lil by lil is abit messy.

Is filling it to exactly halfway on the site glass work when it's on a centre-stand? I'm not sure what it's called, but it lifts your rear forks up.

Filled it with elf Mineral 10w50, and I swore I could have heard an extra rattly noise when I took it off afterwards.

I usually just leave it on the side stand and add small amounts checking in between with the bike on flat ground and in a vertical position. I don’t know how much difference a rear stand is going to affect it but it’s not that much extra work to do without a stand.

Bike should be on flat level ground with both wheels on the ground.
If your not confident holding the bike and checking the sight glass then get a mate/sister/girlf to sit on it and hold it vertical whilst you look & fill it up.

As you might have guessed, having the rear wheel elevated is going to mess with the oil level reading through the glass... not by much, but yeah.
