I need some oggy knobs, just incase. I figure it's a wise investment. Does anyone know where i can get them from and where to fit them? I'm located in Brisbane. Regards,
pretty much any motorcycle shop that carries accessories will have them. They may only have one or two pairs, but they will have them... And, if you can't find them look at http://www.maw.com.au - in sydney but will ship...
do we need to find frame sliders that are particular to our model bike? or are they pretty much a generic thing? because as much as ive looked, i dont think ive ever seen oggy knobs advertised for the fzr250... simon
You would need to make sure that the frame sliders are compatible for your bike model. Different bikes will attach to the frame differently, so if you are going to buy some it would be good to have some guarantee from the place of purchase that they will suit your bike. I haven't seen them advertised for a fzr250 either, nor have I seen an fzr250 with them. I have seen cbr250's with them though... Quick edit - the link above has sliders for the zeal... not sure if these would be at all compatible.
i just bought an rgv250 and it has oggy nobs. yet ive never seen them advertised as compatible. i think mainly because rgv and fzrs are like 10 year old bikes. ive found they only advertise parts to fit bikes that are still in production today
try the wreckers in moss st, Springwood, or the import place opposite.. either or those two should know Tanya
I will be making myself some sliders soon to fit the fzr cos i want to put it on the track soon. I have just finished making handle bar ends out of aluminium, exact copy of the standard steel ones, not the cheep crappy one type fits all from the bike shop. Next on the list is a top triple clamp and handle bars. Also will look at rear sets later on.... If your happy to wait i will do you a deal, but i will need to test them a bit before i sell them. that sounds like an interesting offer jeremy... we'll wait to hear from you cheers simon ps. and welcome to the forums
Simon Send me an email to jeremy@barmac.co.nz so i dont loose your details Jeremy
What is the weight difference between the stock bar-ends and the ones that you made? If it is significant I'd think about why Yamaha put such heavy weights out there.
i have put the aluminium bar-ends on, the weight difference is quite big, i got up to the mid 100's on some good corners and no difference in handling. All the aftermarket ends are aluminium so it should be alright. They look heaps better then the standard ones, they're shiny and i didnt like the oxford ones, they are too short. I have had a look at places to mount the frame sliders, my bike is an 89 and it has a hole through the frame on both sides, just behind the choke lever. this would be the perfect place to mount them, but it involves moving the choke and modifying the fairing. This is the strongest method, or leaving as is and putting an aluminium bracket on as well to move the knob back a bit.. not as strong but easier, only really for low speed drops. Do all the deltabox frames have that hole or is it just the 89???
How did your project on the frame sliders go? I called previouslly around asking any shops for it.. they didnt make it for our model bikes from what I heard.. So i gave up.. Though I wouldnt mind gettin some sliders made up if u can make ones for it. I would pay you of course!
i have wanted a set of oggies for a while now but have not got any cos either i cant find them, or the to expensive. i work with aluminium, so if i cant turn down a set in some spare time at work there is somethin wrong.. i have found a place to mount them, up high and on the frame. just hve to turn it down on the lathe, maybe put on a bit of a pattern, and pollish the hell outtta it. if i cant to that theres somethin wrng. by the way, im new to the forum thing. have been ridin since i was 2 (early starter) and now am 20. got a 1992 FZR250R although some people say its a RR. dunno
welcome to the site! Let us know how you go with the knobs too - I am sure people will be interested to hear the results. And no worries about being new to forums, we all started somewhere.
