hey everyone, Its been a while since I've posted anything on this forum but I have made good progress in building my ZXR250C... the only trouble is that I have hit a snag! At the moment I'm rebuilding front and rear brake calipers and I have no bloody idea on how the anti rattle shim is meant to be placed or installed, I have had a read of the manual and its lead me to a dead end as the description only tells me that I should install the shim before installing pads. could someone be kind enough to take some pictures and post them up for me? cheers!
Thanks GreyImport, I also have the same Part Number Diagrams. When i physically go to install the shim and brake pads, for the life of me i cant seem to work out how the shim is suppose to sit inside the caliper!
Man that would be a massive help! I'm trying to get the bike all finished before the end of the month (that's when my new faring's are due to arrive at my door) I've got new metal gear discs, I've got the metal gear cinterd pads, and I've totally rebuilt the calipers with new pistons and seals... I found the shims were snapped in half when I took it all apart and I've ordered new ones form Kawasaki... they look the same but its doing my head in trying to figure out how they are meant to sit! Anyways looking forward to the pics tomorrow
normally shims click on to the back of the pads and the piston pushes against them and pushes the pad out. they are there to stop vibration and depending on pad material may not be needed. i have found some pads so tight when new they cannot be used initially.
