Saw a bike today while I was waiting at red light where I live on the sunny coast. It was a Kawasaki GXP. It was black and just loved the styling and layout of the dash. Looked like a fun bike.

    Sorry...yeah GPX.
This one I spotted just looked really well looked after. I didn't realise that they are the early version of the ninja?

ZZR-250s are practically the same bike (they are both EX250 variants), so keep an eye out for them too if you like that style! :)

They are really not similar except sharing an engine.
This motorcycle has parts in common with the -F model, though it shares the same engine, albeit with different casings. It sports a lateral aluminum frame, a different fairing (designed to make it look sportier), larger 17-inch wheels, an adjustable rear shock absorber, adjustable brake and clutch levers, a smaller drive sprocket, computer-controlled timing advance, and a revised electrical system. It also had a smaller carburetor, & slightly different compression ratio, both of which were designed for quicker revving and slightly higher top end power.

    I've never owned a GPX.

I have owned a grey imported ZZR though and it was an EX250H1. Its fairings and general look were practically identical to the GPX pictured above.

It also had adjustable brake and clutch levers, an adjustable rear shock and pretty quick revving...

See explanation of differences, they really don't look much alike side by side

The ZZR250 is basically a pretty cool aluminum frame with a GPX250 (EX250) engine and EX500 fork/wheels/shock and maybe swingarm. Styling is a la ZZR family

The GPX was a really nice bike though , nice and smooth / handled very / braked well for being bog stock in every way. Just couldn't get my head around the little engine spinning at 7000RPM at 100K's. But as for servicing the bike that was another story , didn't really enjoy it that much to be honest, if you saw my old bike which i owned for many years and how easy it was to service it you'd understand a bit better. But after joining this forum and reading about different brands / models it sounds like the GPX wasn't that hard after all. The ZZR V's the GPX was slightly different in the running gear /components , but had the choose the GPX as the seat height was slightly lower by memory.

Thanks for the clarification. I hadn't realised they were that different!

Just found a very old picture taken not long after i bought it. What i did love about this bike was the little anchor points on the rear ducktail on either side , very clever idea. Actually still have the seat bag i bought for it.

I have them on my zzr600, great for attaching a bag.
Also if carrying something larger have the rail under the ducktail.
Kawasaki did a good job on these bikes

Hi Phil. Was never aware that the ZZR600 had them. Regarding the seat bag i still have ,i fitted a piece of lexan in the base of the bag to keep it's shape when on the bike , it felt a little bit more secure.
