Me thinks thats a no go Spook. I've got another noob on a CB250 that i met from work; so i'm taking her for a few practice sessions to try and get her skills up and ready for a decent group ride. At the moment however she's a little on the green side of things for a GOR / Black & Reefton run.

Guess this weekend will be an insider; so start planning that shacked up weekend with the lady (or guy ) of your choosing. ;)

Well, last night I checked the weather and it was meant to be rainy today.......
Best rain I've ever seen!!
So who knows the weekend could still be a possible go?? I'm hoping it is, although I wont be coming for a ride down GOR, but I do have outdoor plans with some mates.

I'm holding out on a GOR run until i've got decent weather... not sunny & blue skies cos that attracts all the day-trippers; but just high cloud and no rain / impending doom.

I'm actually a little fearful of the GOR; but its probably just that i've never done it. I learnt to scratch on Reefton and the Black Spur so there's no problems with my ability - just a lack of familiarity with the roads, conditions & quirky little closing radius corners (there's always one!).

i've only done the GOR once on the bike but loved it. Wasn't really hammering mind you, but still going well quicker than all the 4 wheel+ traffic (they never seem to see those "slow vehicle turn-out" signs, do they??) I did see a bike/ rider on its side with ambulance etc. on the opposite side at one stage - maybe thats why i pulled my head in a bit.
i reckon its no more difficult than reefton - just go easy on the first go, eh??
Some of the inland roads through the otways (eg. Skenes creek to Forrest) are just as good maybe better, makes a good side trip on the way back. And the GOR gets even better after Apollo Bay where most people turn home. Only problem is the distance and sore butt factor if you're trying to fit it all into one day.

Anyone actually head out for a nice ride today? Im too busy with fairings off my bike to go for a decent ride... but it'll all be worth it.

mmmm me too. thought i'd make use of the "bad" weather, and have just taken the front brake disc off the wheel for machining tomorrow, after some improvised jacking involving a bluestone brick, some styrofoam and an extra pair of hands. Would rather be riding....

thought i'd keep this post alive with a bit of bitching. What is it with the melbourne weather this week! I don't mind a bit of rain, wind etc. but this constant piss weak dribbly drizzle for 3-4 days now is starting to **** me.
Had this week off work, got the bike in good order, now just want to take it out on a non-damp/grimy open road somewhere for a decent thrash.
Anyway, i'm hitting the GOR tomorrow (friday) if the spizzle (spitty drizzle) can just f off for the day.
Right, i feel better now.

well it didn't, but i went anyway, and managed to drop the bike at the furthest possible point from melbourne (well about 200km away) . seriously, reading back through this post, i think its been cursed or something - i reckon we shut it down and just start all over again with this melbourne ride.

Could be true....

We'd have to title the new one along the lines of:
"Fresh Unjinxed Melbourne Ride??"

Lol spook..a mate on a cbr250 dropped his bike twice on the exact same bit of road that u were on!! He couldn't ride his home though!

Its where the roads are full of bumps and pot holes and very very sharp corners right? recipe for distaster...

yep grendal, sounds like the spot alright. actually, my first thought (well after F#####CK) when i came off was damn, that's a HAIRY piece of road right there - bet its claimed a few. Tell your mate i don't blame him.
hey, but we're keeping this post going. END IT

Yeah but as long as no other riding events are posted here...its ok. lol. All the roads up to there are awesome..nice sweepers.

When we went last year..we came back through skenes creek...they are some awesome roads....puts reefton to shame I reckon. Very good combination of fast straights, twisty corners, fast sweepers
