Gidday, I have had many 250cc motorbikes over the years. Currently have a ZX2R, a VT250F and a GSXR250. I recently sold a SRX250 that my wife was riding. You might say I like my 250's and I prefer them from back in the day (older). Look forward to using this site from time to time. Cheers
Hey Hanging469, welcome to the forum, can you post a pic of your GSXR250 , I have had cibby's, fizzers, zxr's, Across, but never one of these...
Hey hanging469, kinda got the feeling that 250's are your thing, well it just so happens you're in good company. Welcome to the Forum, looking forward to seeing some of your GEMS!!!
Id say instant gold membership with that lot ..... pictures are essential Do you work on them yourself?
GSXR is a little different to the other 250/4 in the that it has 2 x 2-barrel carbs. Goes well. handles great. Doesn't seem to scream it's head off like the ZX2R does. Okay, time to fess up. I have 2 Kwakas. A ZX2R and ZXR250 (same bike I know). One is a street bike (green one) and the other I'm building up for drag racing (don't laugh!). Pictures of both follow. we're not going to run a pipe on the ZX2R and we're going to go bigger on the main jets (probably #132 across all 4 pots). I'm interested in hearing comments from the group about any other carb changes we should be making e.g. pilot jet; air jet; shims etc. I'm not a mechanic, but my mate is and he's turning the spanners on this deal. He's never done this before, so any help would be greatly appreciated (and probably save time & money). Cheers Guys.
Yep, thats the GJ72a, 87 - 89 , they did make a latter model which looks like this : http://www.suzukicycles.org/GSX-R-series/GSX-R250.shtml
GSXR250: Yep, as Kiffsta said it's the original 1987 model and there are small differences as the model evolved. The green ZXR definitely sounds better (and feels faster). Strangely enough, I've never had a CBR250 or a FZR250, so I can't compare them all. I've always liked the GSXR look and livery. I will eventually get a FZR and CBR...life's too short not to! ZX2R drag bike: With Calder Park Raceway getting back into drag racing, we thought a drag bike would be a bit of fun. We're close to racing this thing. My mate pulled a shitload of weight out of it (hard to believe given how light it was when we started). I'm keen to weigh the bike on a proper drag scale to see just how light it is. We believe it weighs around 100kg (without the pipe). We took it to Broadford for a few test runs recently (that's where the picture was taken). We had to run the pipe on it, but it ran poorly, so we have work to do. We've heard that someone ran a 13.8sec pass at WSID on a stock ZXR250, so that's our immediate goal. Ultimately we'd like to run 12's and run the bike in D/SB class, but lets see how we go. I'll keep the forum updated on our progress. I'll probably start a new thread for it. Cheers Guys (& gals).
