Hi all, Just bought another bike & it's an '89' FZR 250 with a 91 engine for the kids.
She need a tidy up but overall not too bad mechanically.
Pretty impressed by the 4 cyl 250cc engine, 18000rpm is insane for a 4 stroke.
Yet to ride her but getting close.
We've got 2 NSR 150's, one is registered & goes well & the other is almost completely restored, Tyga parts & fairings, but too good to be dropped by them hence the FZR.
Off to the questions & answers page now.
    Regards

There's no pics of the other NSR here but I'll get onto it & the RVG looks great there but she's completely stripped down now ready for the restoration, Tyga exhaust & fairings, port & re Nikasil, paint all the bits & pieces & wheels, rebuild all the running gear & maybe 70hp later good to go, he gets off his 'P's in 18mnths so no rush.
Hope this works, I managed to resize the pics with 'paint'

Thanks for the offer, sounds like a good run.
A bit far for me on the ZXR these days, my mind says yeah lets go but the body says you'll be sorry.
I'm 50, dads 72 but Will's only 20, we all ride the bikes, I'll tell Will about the trip & he may be interested in another ride on the FZR when we get her registered & on the road in a few weeks & he'son his green 'P's
We ordered a set of Marlboro fairings from Hong Kong, I haggled with them on the price & but the compromise was on the postage so 'they're on a slow boat from China' might see them in 3 weeks.
I've got all the other parts coming in from all around to get her going.
May need most of the lower fairing brackets, the choke one is still attached but none of the others, if anyone's got them & wants to sell them ?
The only thing I'm worried a bit about is the fuel pump, I got a universal one 3 to 6 psi & not sure what the original one pumps, I tried everywhere but couldn't get one & started wondering if yamaha dropped it on the later models but I was wised up thanks to Greyimport, that they do run them. Just in case, if anyone has one I'm still interested in buying a genuine one.
    Regards Mitchell

    Hi Mitchell
Speaking from past experience with a similar issue on a Suzuki Across, yes they also run an electric fuel pump. The previous owner had installed an after market unit which turned out to be for a small 4 cylinder car. The pump work fine, too fine as it turned out as it pumped miles too much fuel and caused no end of bother. Got hold of an original and the bike performed perfectly. Too much pressure will cause flooding, trap for any player.

I had a look for a set of fairing/cowling brackets from my 'spares' bike but they arnt there .... everything was partly disassembled when I got it so theres alot of smaller stuff missing.

This guy is parting out so could be worth a shot...

if any flooding issues put a pressure regulator betwwen carbies and pump.try to get an adjustable one.

The pump I have coming is advertised as 3 to 6 psi, I'm guessing that means cut in at 3 & cuts out at 6.

Does the manual give details on the original pump?

    Interesting.
Those pumps rely on a pulse from the crankcase in 2 stroke engines, we use them in Kart racing on the Rotax & other 125cc engines. Not sure they work on a 4 stroke ?
I appreciate all your help very much, nothing like talking through an issue, usually ends up with a good result.
My carb gasket kit is in the post, thanks Blair, the info on your website is very helpful. I didnt try to remove the slide insert, worried that it wasn't removable & didnt want to force it not knowing what I was doing. How do they come out ?
I got 4 of the little choke springs from Fisher & Lamco at Sandgate, can't believe it ! first place I tried.
Ive been in contact with the guy in Wagga thats parting out on ebay, looks like I got a water bottle, fairing brackets & the choke assembly from him & that'll be everything, famous last words. He had a pump but someone beat me to it, makes me think they are problematic ? or am I just having a hard time?

What manual, is there a manual somewhere in english ?
I've seen the parts manual on this site but it's all in japanese & can't make out any details.
Looking forward to trying out all these options until I can get a genuine one.

The slide insert just slides out but u have to undo the bolt that holds the jet housing on ,which in turn screws into the needle jet which holds in the insert .... insert has an o ring at the base.

Theres no English manuals .... I pretty much rebuilt my bike using the parts schematics and used torque settings from the FZR400 manual as they are similar .

    400 manuals are here .....
