Hello all, I recently unwittingly purchased a Suzuki 1989 gsxr250r GK73A with only 27000k showing. It was a little knocked about, you know the usual things, cracked and broken fairings etc but it was all there and came with a spare complete engine. All in all a nice little project bike for my playtime in the shed. After getting it home and checking the usual , fluids and so on time to start the little demon! After several hours of head scratching she fired up,blue smoke and a deadly sounding rattle emanating from within. I ran her gently for an hour or so and the smoke disappeared but the rattle prevailed. I eventually traced it to a loose starter clutch, replaced the Allen screws, tightened same and hey presto no rattle. Since then one thing has led to another and I am now in the process of a complete top end rebuild , new pistons ,rings, rebore (0.5 o/s) new valves etc. All was going well with sourcing parts until now, I have not been able to source a head gasket ( part no. 11141-06c00) would someone out there know where I might get one? I still have the original one ,which I am told I could reuse if I removed the coating and apply copper coat, but as yet I haven't found a solvent for the coating Maybe someone could help me with this too! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bago
