So, we've started off with a great looking 87 vt250f project bike which has obviously had a lot of work put into it.......... unfortunatley has had about 3 inches cut off rear of chassis aswell as a seat support strut cut out to be suited for single seat. Having limited funds, i've decided to pull the heart out of this beast and throw it in its older brother the 83 vt250f so as to avoid any road worthy hassles.
i have since attached front fairing, indicators headlight , clutch lines carby's and have had it started fired up no worries and next trick is repair fuel tank next week and get her running off the tank !
Bravo Michael on a job well done. Seems like only yesterday that you and Phil collected the cafe racer and then you and I delivered the second frame to your home. The transformation is fabulous and full credit to you on getting to this stage so quickly, very impressive. Good luck with the rest and keep the photo's coming. Phil
Thankyou kindly Phill looks a bit more complete now and have put the seat locks in so its looking pretty neat compaired to these photo's where u can see the obvious gaps between seat, side panels and tail.... will try to get some more pics up very soon. Hopefully have her on the road in early January Thankyou again for your help in transporting the second frame too.
You are most welcome Michael. Always enjoy seeing a young lady coming back to life, look forward to the new year when she's on the road. Again well done Cheers Phil
found some rearsets, front guard bracket and tail light on ebay! just need mufflers , new chain, fork seals, mirrors and paint job now! can't wait...... should be able to test ride in 2 weeks!
Fuel tank is now repaired, sorted out carby leak and she now runs off the tank and even idles lol. Woohoo
Mey Michael, sounds like the build is coming along nicely, I have a few mirrors at home, feel free to drop by and have a look.
Michael is a man on a mission. Well done, can't wait to see the end result. Merry Christmas to you and your family Phil
Thanks guys! And a merry xmas to you and your family also! little bit of xmas magic helped me speed things up a bit lol....have now got 2 brand new mirrors, fork seals on the way from the states and all i need now is a nice new chain and i have aquired two original mufflers then discovered baffles are blown out..... after doing some research i think i'll replace the baffles rather than different mufflers. be good to keep it looking original and bit easier on the wallet lol.
Wow, Michael is your day job a mechanic? I am always impressed with people who can bring a bike back to life
No mate, not a mechanic ..... just a tinkerer lol. This bike is up for sale.... is more complete than these pics show..... selling for $350 ( firm ) has a knocking sound coming from it..... still not sure what it is but bike would sell for more than $350 in parts wich im still considering...... has a few parts to go with her..... if interested call on 0451 954 710
