So I finally sold my CBR600, I don't know what it was but it wasn't my favourite bike, it did everything right, ie start, run, turn, accelerate but it didn't get my juices flowing. I bought it so I could take my wife for a ride and well.. she isn't interested in riding on the back, so as a commuter is was okay... BUT... so I sold it and at a decent loss mind you, the new owner loves it and so he should its a fine motorcycle, just not the one for me. So with money burning a hole in my pocket I decided to look around and see what's on the market, I already have a ZXR250 so that one is out, I have FZR's before and TBH, Risky keeps out bidding me on them so I thought why not get a Honda. I had been eyeing off a CBR250RR in full Repsol regalia but alas it sold. Many a late night was spent looking at Gumtree, Ebay, Bikesales, Boostcruising etc and I still couldn't find 'the bike for me, the last week I saw an ad on Gumtree for a Honda up the Sunny Coast, I ask Phil to check it out and he called with 2 words of advice "Buy It", he said its in amazing condition for a 1990 model. I ticked tack back and forward with the owner trying to beat him down on price, he came down a bit and said he was firm there, I couldn't convince him drop anymore, the problem was I was hooked. We did the deal by phone on Friday and I headed up to see Phil this morning for fathers day, on the way I stopped in and picked up the bike. I was rather nervous spending what I did but my faith was repaid when I hit the highway, its fricken amazing !!! I pulled into Phil's place with it, he didn't know I done the deal and he was pretty stoked that I bought it, he even took it for a run and came back smiling. I left his place at 4pm with a 160km ride home following my family in trusty Mazda, thinking what a great way to get more acquainted with my new bike, alas it seems everyone from Brisbane was at the coast today and they all decided to go home at 4pm, so at least 80kms of my ride home was done at 40km's per hour or slower. A quick stop at Caboolture and snack then I was back on it for the final stretch, to my delight the traffic had cleared up and it was game on. How much fun is this thing ... bloody awesome. My nickname is Kiffsta and I ride a 1990 Honda VFR400 .. and a few others too here are some pics !!! Kiffsta
looks smick. leave it out thursday with the keys and if looking for it could be in newcastle friday. will swap the fzr parts for it.
When I found out that these things have gear driven cams I nearly fell off my chair. One day I will own one. An excellent score Kiffsta. The 600 you sold is a universal japanese motorcycle, and it is fine motorcycle, but the NC30 is a modern classic. cheers Blair
Some times in life you just know when something is right, as it was when I first saw Chris's new second hand toy/bike. As Chris mentioned, he asked me to have a look at a VFR400 for him, no problem. Made a time with the vendor and jumped in the car, 10 minutes later I pulled up and there in all it's glory was the bike. Superlatives probably don't adequately describe this machines, the vendor was a motorcycle nut, attention to detail was outstanding, the more I looked the better it got. The engine sounded so sweet, the body work near perfect for a bike of 23 years, my thought was, if Chris's doesn't buy it perhaps I should. The vendor had all documents pertaining to purchases made, parts ordered, services done, nothing left to chance with this fellow. I noticed some invoices from my mechanic, oh yes he had done all servicing on this bike. Quick text to Chris, BUY IT. The rest as they say is history..... My first stop after that was to my mechanic so as get the low down on the VFR400. He confirmed everything that the vendor had said and suggested it was a bloody good bike, no if's or but's. Another call to Chris with additional info, my mission complete. Fast forward, Sunday morning, Fathers day and Chris and family arrive at our home, only difference is Chris is straddling his new acquisition, Honda VFR400. couldn't have been happier. Mind you Chris had a serious smile on his dial, with good reason I suggest. Took it for a quick spin, most impressive, this bike has some serious attitude, I like! When I got off it, had the same feeling when riding the NSR, awesome.
That is a clean unit. Is it washed in those photos? Probably not. There are some bikes that have been that well looked after that they just look clean all the time & with a wash, look like they have just been rolled off the showroom floor
