    Hi all,

I just purchased an '01 Suzuki Across on the weekend from Mackay for $900, it’s got about 89000km on it. This isn’t my first bike, I used to have a GPX250 a few years ago which I loved. Unfortunately I had to get rid of it as at the time the mrs and I were living 20km out of town and only had a car that kept breaking down and the GPX which just wasn’t cutting it!
Now, however, things are different and when I seen this bike for sale it looked pretty clean so I decided to give it a go. The plan is to hopefully get it registered and running well to be used as a commuter.
I took it for a ride when I got it and it starts and rides well, theres no funny noises or anything out of the ordinary (so far).
I had a bit of a look over it and I can’t see anything that will hold it back from getting a roadworthy so it’s going in tomorrow for one and hopefully all is well.
It does have the flat spot between 4 and 8 grand so I took the carbys apart and found the throttle slide holders were worn so that’s first on the list after the roadworthy. I’m also planning on leaning it out to the first notch straight away based on what I’ve read here.
After this I will do the plugs, leads, brake fluid, fuel filter, oil & filter, air filter and of course anything else that pops up along the way.
I will be chasing pillion pegs and a l/h side mirror once I get it roadworthy.

    Cheers,
    Daniel

Thanks guys. There's some great info in these forums from across owners!
Got the roadworthy done yesterday. Needs a $7 rubber boot over the clutch lever and a new r/h side mirror as surface was deteriorating making it hard to see out of. I told them to replace the l/h side one too so they match rather than having two different mirrors.
So it should be around $150 for the roadworthy which isn't too bad and it hasn't thrown up any major problems as yet

They're keeping it until the mirrors come in so hoping to get it back next week sometime and keep working on it.

    Hey rocky_dan90
Nice looking bike, hadn't seen one in that colour before.
You'll find much info on the across on this forum, this includes technical data and parts. The Across is a great machine and has a substantial following. Good luck with the roadworthy, and welcome to the Forum.
