hey all my muffler also needs replacing and im wondering what sort of aftermarket muffler/exhaust ppl have attatched to their ride that they were happy with...was it worth the $$$ or should i jus go to the local wreckers and pick up something cheap...by the way i dont think my bike has the exup..is it possible to get one of these from a later model fzr and attatch it to mine?? what mods if any would i need to do? thanks all
Well i guess it all comes down to how much do you want to spend? If you want to do it on the cheap then go to a wrecker and find an exhaust can you like, then get out the Autosol and polish it up! If you've got a bit of money to spend then it might be worth chasing around a few local manufacturers like Staintune or Formula who'll be able to fabricate something up for you. As for the EXUP, it's not an easy thing to retrofit as you'd need to source a full EXUP exhaust system, the CDI, the control servo... and i think that's about it. BUT once you'd done that you'd also need to change the carbs for ones off an EXUP'd bike, and also the cam timings may vary slightly... so a set of cam's aswell. Put simply - not worth doing.
