Decided to venture down to my local bike dealer this morning in order to source some parts for my Bandit. Have ordered the seal kit from our friend blair, so armed with the necessary info which is mandatory with an import job such as mine, I asked the young fellow wether he could help me with a price on needles for a Suzuki gs 500 pre. 2000 model. Simple enough one would have thought. Not today, are you certain its the gs500, yes absolutely certain. Last time you came in we were looking at the 550, no we were not. Positive we were, I'll check the 550, no I want the gs500 pre 2000. I could go on, sure you get the picture. Then the service/parts manager pops over to assist. Still have issues with your Greyimport, at this stage am far from being a happy camper. Was on the verge of informing him the Santa Claus was fine and living in Tamworth, thought better of it! Stay cool Phil , it's a beautiful day and Don't let this douch bag spoil it . Then the parts manager and the fellow who was servicing me start arguing about which one I'm after. By this stage I'm looking for the hidden camera thinking that they're filming Monty Python or the likes of!!!! What the hell, I must have missed something. Eventually the parts manager gets his way, brings up on the computer the part I'm after, we agree and he proceeds to get me the price, thought I was on the home stretch,WRONG. Am informed that the system will not bring up a price?? I promptly left, bitting my tongue. Dealers, who needs them. The rest of my day was fine.
I must be lucky with the Yammy dealer here.....the young guy I had while I was sourcing stuff was very efficient .... didnt care it was a grey ...just looked up the part and always checked it was right and chased things up if need be.....he always printed out the list and prices of what I wanted knowing full well I was using it as a guide to check for other sources online......as much as I did spend plenty of dollars there. He even helped arrange to have the bike picked up and dropped back for the rego check knowing it wasnt running 100% ...... it cost me for it but it was well sorted .
Agreed, Have nothing but good things to say about Springwood Suzuki in Brisbane. By phone or in person these people always try and assist, alas they 130k's away from where I live.
Alot of times it comes down to the fact that most guys who work at dealerships own a latest model bike or have aspirations to own one, so anyone with an old banger or grey import or both , arnt worth the time and effort .... and of course u didnt get your bike off their showroom floor either .
Know the feeling ..... Ive been trying for months to track down a new brake master for our Honda Accord ..... Ive messaged/emailed at least a dozen online or ebay traders and all but 1 havnt bothered to reply .... and his answer? .... get the original reconditioned as he cant find any but will get his suppliers to "get a couple in" .... when I replied when and how much...no answer. And from memory I think most where based in Queensland
