Hiya, came across this forum while idly searching for info on one of the projects. Finally in a position financially to chase some of the bikes that I lusted over as a beginner rider in the mid 1980's ....although I think a TZR may still be a bit out of my league! First toy is an 87 Honda MC17 CBR250 which is now residing in a friends garage. She wont need much fettling to get her on the road (luckily)....unlike project 2, the 88 GJ72A GSX-R. More a long term project this one, thought I would buy it now while I could, will probably dig it up in 5-10yrs. Both are on hold in the meantime while I get my daughters new A100 squared away, and then Ive got a DX100 to get ready for a ride in March. photo_2023-08-04_13-32-19 344761517_1382082209282303_3951538383340254535_n
Great little machines. You do not see many MC17s about. Even harder to find an MC14. Will be interesting to see how your project progresses.
Welcome to 250 mecca mate. She looks pretty straight for the vintage. Best of luck on your resto, you're in the right place for showing it off and getting advice
Welcome. Is that CBR labelled as an MC17 in New Zealand? It looks like an MC14. An MC17 normally looks something like this...
Minus the drag strip frame at the back I'm picking... It does look exactly like that (trust me), its just lacking some of the fairings which have been removed.
Yes, my mistake. I didn't look at the seat too closely, just the plastics. MC14 has a one-piece seat.
