Recently I heard that the city of Melbourne was kind to bikers. The compere who made this statement was comparing Melbourne versus Sydney. Having just returned from the Victorian capital, I have to say that I concur with his comment. I travelled into Melbourne, not by bike but by tram, excellent way to observe what's going on around you. Bikers seem to park on side walks around the city, couldn't observe any signs negating this arrangement and it seemed to work very well. Walking back from the city towards the Vic markets I came across Peter Stevens huge stores and observed at least 7 dealers in the one complex, very impressive! Big tick to Melbourne, had a great time.
I wouldn't like to go there with their 'bikers' and their 'sidewalks'. I'd rather stay in NSW where we have 'bikies' and 'footpaths'
Yep, Melbourne bikers park on the footpath free of charge and generally without hassles from authorities or the general public. I've lived in various parts of Melbourne for the past few decades, well since I arrived in 1965 and like the place
