anywhere has to be better than hanging out with across riding poofters at netrider? I couldn't be bothered to go back, they're not worth my time. I can't ride because their bike is ****?? What a bunch of losers..
lol i take it something happened over there that youre not happy about simon
Most of them ride across's and they think they're a **** hot bike And apparently i have no riding ability because i think they're ****!!
I don't know why the netrider site ended up with a lot of across riders on them. I think they must have to stick together - strength in masses and all that. The across isn't a dog of a bike, but it is certainly not a sports bike like the cbr, zx2 or the fzr. I just let them (the across riders) think they are great yet most are looking forward to upgrading. Many people on fzr's will stick with the fzr a while longer because they are so much more fun. it is just a debate I have never even tried to get into... in the end it comes down to 'to each their own'. I personally don't like the across, but I can see the merits of it.
from melbourne primarly. There are about 6 or 7 very vocal across riders in netrider, and about an additional 5 or 6 ex-across riders who are again vocal. For fzr's there have only been 3 of us since I joined (whcih was about the beginning of netrider's popular existence). Yamaha's in general are under-represented in Netriders...
you will have to go back now - the person you suggested to change the sprockets with is now offerring you a coffee/beer (because your suggestion could be his solution).
I saw, he doesn't ride an across so he's ok. The guy who upgraded from a virago to an acrosss needs help.. My other half saw the tuning comment and it was wtf? Some of them seem to be ok.. it's just the *vocal* across riders that annoy the hell out of me.. I want a 600, but i'm not desperate to get off my bike.. i think i can get more out of it yet, and it does go and handle. And yes i can ride, especially after the course i just did. I still think my comment that the across riders defend them cos they don't want to admit they've made a mistake is correct It took a while to get them to bite too
did you mean my tuning comment? I said that because my old fzr needed a carbie tune badly and as a result it was not performing as it should (and a properly tuned across could beat it). I agree with what you have said about some of the across riders... Some vocal ones are OK (like groberts - he accepts things in jest and knows that the acrosses are made fun of), others take it too seriously. I was surprised how seriously Kez was taking it - she was tossing up ebtween an across and fzr at one point and went for the across because it was much more pillion friendly. Oh well.
nah mate the other bloke's tuning comment Thanks for the comment.. and i thought it was a bloke getting narky!!
I've been on a few rides with them. Quite varied in skill level. Some leave me in the dust, and others are happy going along at or around the speed limit (which can be a bit annoying). I wouldn't consider myself a slouch, but some of these guys were taking corners through the reefton spur that were marked "60 kph" at over 100 (I usually did about 80 - never know what is on the road up ahead or what is coming around the corner the other way). As for coffee nights - have been to many of them. Good chance just to meet up with some fellow riders. Usually nothing much happens - just some conversation oriented around bikes (obviously). Get lots of looks from people who don't understand why there are 20-40 bikes parked outside the restaurants and bars along southbank.
Sounds a little like a WIMA meeting i went to. The said you could only go on the ride if you did the speed limit and stayed behind the lead bike.. i never went back I went to an ozsportbikes meeting recently and there were 30 odd bikes there, (only 2 250's) and people were taking pics. that was pretty cool they get up to 40 ppl at qld rides too, but the cops read our forums and know when they're going out
You have to come to Sydney Tanya!! awesome roads here you ll love it! same goes with you boz.. actually for every1 who dosent live in NSW hehe. You get a varied of bike riders, some who are goin be ur riding buddies.. and some who are just dicks.. i havent met much dicks.. so i had a good experience so far. where sthe link for the tunin forum where u had this issue.im interested in reading it.
I find that the Across riders really only sticking up for their bikes in direct proportion to how much bagging they cop. But each to their own.
I've been on a couple of runs with some NetRider guys recently... the last one i organised (and Garfield2k came along). I find that most of them are quite nice; a couple of them are a little quirky to say the least. Its usually the ones that have been riding for a little while and think their the shiz that give me the most grief. Im happy to talk bikes (& tuning) with almost anyone regardless that my knowledge base is a little on the limited side. When discussing fuel economy with an Across rider (not on NetRider) i was laughed at and told to get an Across ('real bike'), to which i responded that i would if i could stand the power delivery or lack of. I was originally going to buy an Across (!!) for their funtionality, partial decent looks, and their moderate redline. After riding two of them, i gave up all hope. I just found that the peak power came on about 2/3 to 3/4 the way up, then it was just pointless revving. Thankfully i saw the FZR (and the light! ) and got my little 3LN-3.
