http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/11152995...s=gh1g=I111529951412.N101.S1&autorefresh=true I have got them down to $130 plus freight... just wondering if 6 litres will be large enough? The 13 litre job I was watching (2nd hand) didn't sell but hasn't gone back up on eBay again... so they probably sold it elsewhere... What does everyone think??
Anything over 3L will fit a carby in it http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/ultrasonic-cleaning.1433/#post-12438
I looked into this a while back and wanted a decent ultrasonic machine to clean banks of carbies, cylinder heads etc after talking with plenty of suppliers, I determined that the effectiveness of the machines can be attributed to the quality of the transducer that creates the 40khz waves, what chemicals \ cleaners you add to the water and the heat the machine generates. Some machines do it much better than others. The issues I saw the most was that some cleaners have hot spots where the cleaner is most efficient and other areas of the tank might not work as well giving mixed results. I looked at $10,000 commercial machines, in the end I liked these guys the most , but couldn't justify $1300 to buy it. http://www.liquidglassoz.com.au/prod47.htm @Phil also knew a guy on the Sunny Coast who leased a commercial unit for his workshop and ended up returning it because it wasn't being used. If you end up buying this one, I would be very interested in seeing the results.
to get an idea of it's effectiveness, check the volume of liquid and the power of the transducer - it yields just a ratio, but it can also give you an idea if a larger one is potentially underpowered compared to something smaller...it's a you get what you pay for situation... I have a little one - likely just 1.3 Litres for memory, it does carbs one at a time just fine
Well... based on the info from Grey and the thread he linked I have purchased this one... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/38150027...49&var=650622230945&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT We will have to see how well it works when it arrives later in the week... but I have plenty of things to clean... a couple of Across carbies... and SRX250 carbie... plus numerous other odds and sods
Andy. If you buy one of the ultrasonic cleaners , make sure that you get the ratio of liquid cleaners correct if your going to mix your own brew up as iv'e seen some nasty results from the wrong mix on brass ammo cases to the stage that iv'e informed the owner not to use them.I wasn't there when he mixed his brew up or even what he used or how long he set the machine up for. But when you get the mix correct they do a really nice job , personally iv'e never used a ultrasonic cleaner as i'm old school and have only used the media type of cleaner. Look up some reloading forums there is a lot of information there.
haha.. Ammo cases won't be an issue for me... Just a small amount of detergent (dishwashing liquid) or simple green concentrate and water... I know jewellers use dishwashing liquid, hot water and ammonia with the cleaner lined with aluminium foil but that is too much trouble... I will keep dissimilar metals apart as well... as suggested in the linked thread up the top...
OK mate, thought i'd better inform you just in case where not aware of the issues with ultrasonic cleaners.
