Guys, the nightmare is half over and I thought I'd post my horror story so everyone knows and spreads the word and offers me some advice maybe

of n on I’ve posted here about me FZR 250 project and now it's al in ruins, ok it's been in ruins ever since I made that one phone call, I got screwed over and am still being screwed over by the guys above and recommend no one ever buys something from either of me..

Basically the drill is this, I bought a project bike a couple years ago and while slaving off in my former job slowly bought all the bits I needed, new brake pads, new chain all that fo shizzle for the carbs tuned and all I needed was a replacement engine as the one that was in the bike was a right off, so I gave these guys a call in March, asking him about bikes and engines and they where so good, almost to good which is what they are, to good..

So I save up 1210 bucks 1100 for the engine and 110 for postage... and finally come august have enough saved up so send me money off and 2 weeks later me engine arrives

Horrrayyyyy I say... but as soon as it arrived I should have been aware of what was to come... it arrived in a blanket as the cardboard box it was in got wet and ripped up... charming is anyway... drag it down to me garage and admire it.. Oh how naive I was and isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing...

So finish me bike off... and in Nov order I last item needed... spark plugs and cooler fluid, I mount the engine in and before we start it up... I decide to change the spark plugs... ( hindsight again ) and so I’m half under the bike changing me, 1 go's easy, 3 go's easy 4 go's easy, hold on you say where is no 2... ahh problem no TWO, after taking the second spark plug out and looking at I’m like hey that’s not right... and to be true it wasn’t right as the spark plug had been tampered with and had a cut vertical down the line.. I’m like ****.. I ring me mechano buds up and say I was about to start me bike and I can’t get the spark plug in.. So later in the week they rock up and tell me I screwed the thread and it needs to be heli coiled to fix the problem... I’m screaming and shouting ( not really ) I was just quietly protesting my innocence saying I couldn’t possibly have done that, I’m no mechano but I’m no retard ( well you might say I am and I think I have been dumb with this engine but later on that.. I was just excited and not thinking business like I normally do)

So out comes the engine and she sits on me bench as I wait till my buds have some spare time to help me with it... ok I think bugger it I’m making enough money I’ll take her to me bike mechano and he’ll do it in a couple hours and I can finally register the bike..

So I drop it off and low and behold this appears to be just the start of my problems and now I’m still waiting for some new shims for the engine and hopefully some good luck might come my way…

Basically the deal is... I was naïve and got shafted

    The engine was a dud

It had been lying in the rain as it had rust all inside where the spark plug goes
The starter motor that it cam with didn’t WORK
    The engine has no compression
The Spark plug threads are screwed
    The shims are too tight

And that’s all I can real of the top of me head

Yes I know I should have sent it straight back... yes I know I shoulden’t have been so naïve, I was just happy, it was the last peace of the puzzle and supposed to be the easiest part

Just thought I’d let you guys know my horror story and I’ll let you know when the engine, it it’s actually any good actually goes….. I’ve booked me P’s test for May 14 and hopefully my bike will be ready some time before then but I’m planning on using there bikes, hopefully I’ll pass and half this nightmare will have a happy ending, in the meantime I’m stuck with 2300 bucks worth a brand new bike in me garage and 1210 engine sitting at my mechano’s garage while he waits for shims

An’t this the way it’s supposed to be…

    Peace All Indy

I know I know.. should have done this and should have done that ï

that is pure bad luck! I have no comforting words for you - nothing can really comfort those sorts of things. I don't know if I would have had done any different though!

Have you approached the import place to see if they knew of the all the problems (they obviously should have)? If they can not (or won't) do anything have you considered approaching the ACCC? The import place can not provide you with a part that is not as described - if they do it is their responsibility to replace it (even if you and your friends try to fix it up they should still be responsible). Disclaimer - I am not legal expert, and just stating what I beleive to be the case.

p.s. I have used them (consumer commission) before and they were very helpful in resolving my problem.

Bad luck dude, but getting shafted is exactly that... shafted.
Did they give a description of the engine? Good condition, bad condition, 'as is'?
As Boz said, if they'd described an engine in good working condition that had been removed from a semi-working motorbike then i'd damn well expect something that was working.

In a perfect world im sure we'd only ever meet nice people, and only have good things happen; and all our little 2fiddy fizzers would keep us happy with endless power to rival all others till the redline. This isnt a perfect world, but i'd still say chase them as much as you can; worst outcome they tell you to screw yourself. Best outcome they offer you some money back to shut you up, or possibly some credit on other parts.

    I got shafted twice.

Me: "Excuse me do you have an FZR250 fuel tap?"
Him: "Sure, that's 40 bucks thanks"

    *drains fuel*
    *takes fuel tap off*
    *puts new fuel tap on*
    *takes bike for ride*
    *pisses out fuel*

    Diagnosis: ****** O-Ring

    *drains fuel*
    *takes fuel tap off*
    *drives to wreckers*

Me: "can i have another one cause this one is ****!"
    Him: "Sure, here you go"

    *puts fuel tap on*
    *takes bike for ride*
    *pisses out fuel*
    Diagnosis: ****** O-Ring and ****** wreckers

    *drains fuel*
    *takes fuel tap off*
    *chucks tap away*
    *shouts expletives*
*looks at hands after removing those bitch clamps like 6 times!*

lol, sounds like you need a good pair of pliers. Yeah never trusted wreakers, bought an engine for my car they said it was 100%, put it in filled up the cooling system and it all starts pissing out of from a busted seal on the water pump journal. They offered to get me one for $200, went down to repco and got one new for $100.
