    Hi,

I stupidly did not get a spare key cut in the 4 months i had my bike. I got mugged of my keys and wallet and now have the trouble of trying to get keys made for my bike. I know I could try and get the bike onto a ute or trailer with the steering lock on (pain in the ass and costs), so i have 2 issues.

#1 How is the best way to take the ignition barrel out?
(the fuel cap apparently wont be sufficient to make an ignition key from)

#2 Also, I will need to take the fuel tank off to unplug the electronics.

Can anyone help me? Diagrams? etc?

Cheers. Would love to get back on the road and riding!

    Matt

You could bypass the keyed ignition and setup a remote ignition there is a step by step guide here:

You will need the wiring diagram of the bike the fzr400 one will do, it is fairly simple exercise if you have limited electrical know how.

note: you wont be able to use the steering lock <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( --> (i cant even remember if the fzr250 has one)

To get the tank off what you do is one the rear compartment, take out the centre shelf, un-screw the seat bolt, take the seat off, unscrew the bottom tank bolt, unscrew the top tank bolt, disconnect the fuel tap (choke), lift off the tank.

To take off the ignition you will have to unscrew (tiny screws) the ignition barrel off follow the ignition cable through and see what it attaches to and disconnect take note of where they come off (coloured zip ties are what i use)

Hope this helps this is a very general discription as to what to do.

    Cheers
