I was reversing Nessie from the garage and had to manuever her backwards from a narrow spot (she had Peaches, a Hyundai Lantra in front of her). i was hurrying coz Jeff (my bf) was coming to park Drac (his VTR1000 sp-1) in Nessie's spot, but i'm still not used to her weight. I had to move her over a 1cm ramp and my legs weren't fully touching the ground, so i couldn't balance her when she leaned towards the left side.

    i dropped her

i was screaming for Jeff to help, because i was supporting her weight with my left leg (so that she would not totally fall on her side - she fell on me), and Jeff came running.

He tripped over Nessie's front wheel, sending her sprawling on the ground off my leg. The extra pressure caused some coolen to leak out of her pipes (which we tightened) and a small dent in the tank.

i am so depressed. Poor girl...

It happens to the best of us Cuddles. I dropped mine in the garage just a few weeks ago. My excuse was a slick wet concrete floor and wet boots.

it is always the sixth day for me.. any car any bike that I ride/drive on the sixth day of ownership I do some thing to it...

My first bike.. I had to park it on a little veranda 3 steps up.. so I made a little ramp... I managed to stall half way up... nothing under my feet... the bike ended up upside down on top of me!!

Welcome to the club. I hope it didn’t scratch up the coffee side.

I think anyone that has owned a bike has a few shocking stories to tell. My bike has been involved in no less than 5 such incidents, 3 of which the engine wasn’t running and also 3 that had nothing to do with me. Needless to say I am very particular now days with who I let near my bike. Luckily only one required plastic welding, the rest tallied up to 2 new tinted screens, an indicator cover, can of spray paint and a bit of elbow grease.

awwww, thanks guys for sharing your experiences. It makes me feel a little bit better...

i wish there were bikes with 2 stands, one on the left and the other on the right! Maybe that'd help balance the bike a little ...

OOOOOOOOOH i just learnt about oggy knobs from another forums. i want to get some of thoooose.....

unfortunately Wizard said that they sometimes bend the frame which is worse than damaging the fairings of Nessie... so i shouldn't get it.. oh well.

If you can find some that will fit without major fairing surgery I would get some. I would not attach it to the hollow section of the frame but an engine mount or something like that.

ciaran is right - attach them to the engine mounts (or similar) not the frame... Another name for them is frame sliders - the idea is that they prevent your frame from bending in an accident. They're not designed to save your fairings, although they can help in that area. Fairings are less expensive to replace than a frame (mainly because that involves replacing the entire bike :p ).

good oggy knobs are designed to fail in situations of extreme stress, to prevent damage to the engine case.

you can also get sliders for the front and rear axle bolts - which also tend to get ground off in the case of a low side.

I've been meaning to get some for a while :p

I found that the rear of the bike touches down at the bulge of the rear fairings and the little hero knoby things on the foot pegs, that is if you haven’t removed them.
