Well, I have NO idea anymore..

Mechanic has given it a service, installed new chain and sprockets, and moved the voltage regular rectifier to the rear of the bike so it didn't get hot..
NOW, he said it had died. yet again.

he texted me and said it may be the carbies? would it be?

What happens before it dies , if it's electrical, You can test all the components , ie reg, stator etc

    Stator is fine
    Regulator is fine

Makes a spluttering sound, like running out of fuel, when the clutch is fully engaged, she turns off. doesn't want to start, I had this problem last time I rode it.. took me an hour and a half to ride 20km's

Petcock ? Maybe you are having fuel flow issues. As for the clutch, you should about 2-3mm of freeplay at the lever in the perch

Check all your vacuum lines a agree with kiffsta about fuel starvation. Something must be hampering the flow rate of fuel

Carbies are at the end of the fuel chain

Start with the fuel cap and that the breather is working ....if its not a vacuum forms stopping fuel flow ..... ride with the cap a little open (not with a full tank of course)

Then make sure the fuel tap is working correctly ..... fuel runs from vacuum not a pump ...... make sure the vacuum hoses are correct and not split or wateva.

Theres also internal filters in the tank attached to the fuel tap

Look for a fuel filter and replace it if its old or not a 'free flowing" one ....make sure its installed correctly (it has an arrow on it to show the direction of flow)
Make sure all the fuel lines are correct and in good condition

Pull the hose that connects to the carbys to see if fuel is actually flowing to that point

And when it all totally gets up your nose (as it does to all of us at times) ..... don't forget your Mum still loves u.

Whats been done to the carby's so far ?
Could be stuck chokes, spluttering out sounds like a rich issue, what do the plugs look like, black & sooty or white / light brown ?

Plugs are brand new because of the service.
It's running rich, fuel smell is so strong, not good to feel a bit sick while riding haha.
I think it may be the fuel mixture screw?
    maybe it's not on 2 1/2 turns?

another issue could be the float heights causing constant flooding and even the needled causing the flooding, drop the oil and see if its got heaps of fuel contamination

I wouldnt go that far just yet, take the carbies off & pull them apart.
Get some carby cleaner & some compressed air & get into it.
Could be just the inlet needles holding open because of junk coming out of the tank.
Put a filter on it if it hasn't got one already. The bowls will be full of crap it's that.
Youll know better whats going on when you open them up.

Just think of fresh fuel at a local petrol station, but times that by 3. it's dangerous as ****.
