How Do you maintain your Bikes?

    I have a general question for the listers out there - How does everyone maintain there bikes? The 250 is a Japanese spec bike, Grey market for most of the world. In the United States there is not a parts source or even a shop that will touch the bike. Working on the bike is not an issue, but developing a parts source is difficult. What has everyone else found in there respective countries? Thanks

    I have never had an issue with sourcing FZR parts in Australia, Sydney. The wreckers usually have old FZR parts lying around... dosent sound too good when they have so much FZR parts.. though If I can't get my exact part I can get aftermarket parts that will fit fine. Some parts cost a **** load.. like my aftermarket FZR 250 front fender.. I paid $220-250AUS I cant remember exactly but that was freakin expensive i rekon.!You might want to go to the YF site and go to the links page and select the Findapart site.. its for Australian users, you just type what you want and companies email you what they have.. I just dont know if they will ship to the US but im sure they can arrange something.

    They are a grey bike here in Aus too, but most bike mechanics (not shops) are willing to have a go. My 'parts source' is actually a guy who sponsors a few minor racing teams - mostly dirt but has previously sponsored fzr250 teams road teams. Thus he is quite good at knowing what parts I need when I go and ask him. And for cheap parts I can go to wreckers.

    I am not sure how it is in California, but compared to Canada (where i am originally from) bike shops and bike wreckers are a dime a dozen here in Melbourne. And because most new riders are forced to ride 250's in Australia (some states now excepted to this rule) there tend to be enough fzr's on the road for mechanics to be willing to work on the bike if / when required (and also means that enough people actually crash them to provide me with another source of parts...)

    Dean, thanks for the link. I will try them out. As for the wreckers, there arenot many FZR250's in the US. As far as I can tell there may be two other bikes in the US. None of the wreckers in the US even know that the bike is a four stroke, they think that it is one of Yamaha's two stroke race bikes. I will keep looking. As for body work I almost have that covered, I am just finishing up a mold for the 250. I figure that getting body work sent to the US would be expensive so I decided to make a copy in Carbon Fibre
