well, Phil and I have competed the engine swap, she is now a fully fledged 45hp jobbie with a carbon exhaust can, just waiting on new grips to arrive then its rego time.
new grips went on today, so I can finally say its done and dusted. Even took it for quick blat around the block I don't think I am going to register it anytime soon as I am saving for a holiday, ... this could pay for flights to Japan so here goes nothing... $3650 OBO
The photos are great but it's even better up close. This one and the NSR are best he's done, my humble opinion. Well done mate
x3 on that one mate, I know Chris's work and when he wants something to come out nice it really does.. very very nice indeed.
Do the RTA/blue slippers care if you change the engine of the same model bike to an older version with more hp?
all good in too NSW: ENGINE Item Modification 1 An engine that is not of an original family of engine for the series of models, or any engine more than 20% larger than the largest original optional engine for that series. Examples requiring certification: • Replacement of 2.0 litre Honda engine with 2.0 litre Mitsubishi engine. • Replacement of 2.0 litre engine with an engine capacity greater than 2.4 litres. Example not requiring certification: • Replacement of a 2.0 litre engine with an engine of 2.4 litres capacity or less and from the same vehicle series. http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents...ndards/vsi-06-light-vehicle-modifications.pdf It's fairly vague though, the above is pretty much stipulating that we can put an mc22 engine in a 2011 cbr250r. I really wonder how far the above rule could be exploited.
I wonder if you could put a Mc21 engine in an Mc22 because its not 20% larger and its part of the "MC" series etc etc. Loop hole your way to 20 extra hp hahaha.
3600 seems a little cheap. We've seen several of these in this condition going for 4K & upwards in our own sales yard on the front page. Maybe that's the point but....
well, after getting it registered , Phil commented the carbs needed a tickle, so I stripped them, cleaned them balanced them and went to go for a ride and ran like a bag of bolts, so I parked it up and had a case of the shits Tonight I thought bugger it, I need to find out whats up so I stripped everything down, I found that I have a cracked carb boot which is causing a big air leak, I have some chinesium ones, but am looking for a set of OEM ones for a L model, there are some one ebay for $130 plus post from Tokyo which seems excessive, any ideas where to get some at a decent price ? took her for a quick blat tonight, runs quite well. I now want to find a Yoshi pipe for it
