Been restoring the odd bike for the past five years, mainly sourced in boxes but the occasional find on marketplace or Gumtree. Found a Yamaha fzx 250 zeal a week or so ago and brought it home for a minimal amount of cash exchanged thankfully, as that leaves a bit of wiggle room when it comes to finding parts. The bike is a 98 model and was last registered in 2015 so a bit of grime has been collecting. More interestingly apparently the PO’s had a house fire and the tank and some of the plastics were in the house while the bike was outside. I spent most of yesterday with a gas torch peeling the remains of the plastics from the tank. Replacement plastics are on their way. The fun begins. I’ve pulled the carbs off and cleaned and am going around looking and fixing the odd frozen up part as I go, and have started a list of bits to source. Hopefully when the weather warms up in four months I’ll be ready to paint and get it back on the road. I am expecting more issues to arise, but that’s expected. Previous resto’s, Honda SL, GL, and CB175, Yamaha DT100, RT100, Yamaha AS1 x 2. Currently on the floor Honda CB250 nighthawk, Honda CD250U, Suzuki GT250, Honda CD125 and the Yamaha fzx250 zeal.
