    Hello everyone.
My name's Nando (yeah, like the chicken joint franchise haha). I found out about this forum more or less from eBay. I bought a sprocket cover for my bike (which is an FZR250) from Kiffsta and received a card so i thought I'd take a look at the site. Glad i did. Seems to be a plethora of info and advice here.
    As I said i ride a 1992 Yamaha FZR250, 3LN. There's a picture of it here somewhere.

I've been riding for around 3 months now, and this is my first bike, and I'm glad i went with this one. Problem is, its a grey import, so getting parts can be a nightmare. I've even had to get a speedo gear drive for the front wheel from Ireland! So I'm hoping that in time ill be able to find out if theres better ways to get parts for them than eBay haha.

While I'm on that topic, I'd appreciate some information on where, or if at all, I could get a replacement fairing for the bike? As you can see from the picture, the bike is a bit rough around the edges, but i have been working on it, and its coming along. It took me 2 months to get a replacement windscreen from Hong Kong, as the first one arrived broken and the second one didn't arrive at all haha. Also as previously stated, Kiffsta supplied me with the sprocket cover which was totally missing, so thanks for that.  :occasion14:

I live on the Central Coast of New South Wales, so if anyone wants to invite me to a ride I'd be happy to oblige, so long as I'm not at work. Permanent Afternoon shifts with weekly Sunday overtime. Its not as fun as it sounds haha.

Enough rambling. I'm gonna browse the forums.
    Cheers

Edit: I'll have to modify the picture as Its too big >.<

    Hey Nando

Welcome to the forum , nice looking Fizzer  , I too have a couple of imported bikes (ZXR250 and NSR250) and yes they can be a pain for parts as there are no dealership support here, but in saying that, there are plenty of places to source parts. The FZR may be jap import, but plently of them made their way to Australian shores and and plenty were crashed, I'd check places such as eBay, www.findapart.com.au and your local wreckers to name a few. Also forums such as fzr250.com and 2fiftycc.com are a good place to post wanted ad's. During the late 80's and 90's, many of the manufacturers made fully faired race bikes and naked equivalents, so you may be able to source parts off other models, ie FZR250 - Fully Faired , FZX250 Zeal - Naked... they have the same engine and more than a few shared parts. I still have most of my fizzer, so if there is anything your chasing, please let me know.

Fairngs for the FZR250 can be hard to source, there are chinese copies on ebay, I have heard horror stories on fit and that they seemingly combust with any sort of contact with the ground. If you can find a good motorcycle spray painter, they may be able to repair your broken panels and give it a new paint job.... Im going through this at the moment with my ZXR250 project, in the end I decided that they could be better off repaired and painted than chance the chinese stuff.

Glad your happy with your sprocket cover.

    Take it easy

    Chris

    Hey Nando
Welcome to the forum, glad the cards are working when we dispatch parcels, we don't get much feed back how people come across the forum.
Good choice for your first bike, the photo you posted looks pretty tidy to me.
Chris has covered most bases for sourcing parts, you can also check various ebay sites such as ebay UK where you may find parts also.
Good to have you on board and as always, enjoy the ride.
