    G'day, once again.

6 days ago today, I rode my ZXR to and from work with absolutely no problems, actually to be honest it felt smooth, and non-vibraty(what haha).

    BUT *insert problem here*
I was in the carport, and I had the bike "on" (sitting on for 30 seconds) and all the electrics seemed to have died. so I turned the ignition off and back on and absolutely nothing. now by this stage I freaked out and yeah..

So wednesday (day before my birthday) I rang up a local bike mechanic to come pick it up (he dislikes my bike, because it's rougher than 60grit sandpaper, but still) so he said he "fixed" a "major fuse" (no idea what the frick he mean't).
But I rode the ZXR for around 40km's, pulled up at home with absolutely no problems. I was feeling happy that it was "fixed".. temporary or not.

I went back out about an hour after getting home, I rode for a kilometer and the motor died and electrics went off and I couldn't believe it was happening AGAIN after getting a "fix"...

What on earth should do I do?!

Check the main fuse somewhere near the battery.

    G'day mate
Sad story, you should have your mechanic fix it at no cost. Why, because he probably replaced a blown fuse but as is the norm these days did not investigate what caused the fuse to blow. This appears to be an on-going problem, think you have a short within the electrical system that requires attention.

The main fuse is 30amp jobbie and sits in front of the battery, you need to remove the tank to access it, it will have a 2 thick black wires running to it, one from the positive on your battery and the other goes to your starter motor, there is a red cover that pulls off to reveal your fuse. Phil is on the money, why did the fuse blow ?

I would be looking at the Stator, and Voltage regulator , the best thing you can do is look at the loom going into your regulator, check the wires to make sure they are not toasty , also check the connections on the regulator and make sure they are clean.

First move is to ditch the mechanic ....for the reason Phil mentioned

If your going to own an old bike
    1 Expect problems
2 Learn how to solve them yourself

Instead of wasting money on useless mechanics who arnt interested in anything except the latest 1000cc sport bike , use the money to get some basic tools to do it yourself

And the knowledge and help available here is priceless.

    Theres manuals here ....

The afternoon that the fuse blew, I rode home in the pouring rain & my bike isn't exactly waterproof, duct tape holding wires and whatnot. My poor bike has had a tough life being abused and mistreated, and I want to correct that and make happier looking lol.

Thanks heaps, will make a build thread in the future :)

No worries. When mine did that the fuse would blow instantly. A couple of days later it was fine.
