i really need some help here....i don't want to buy a new cylinder head!!!! i was trying to change the plugs by myself and i was told to use a 5/8 socket. i tried using the deep socket but i couldn't get it inside the cbr250 plug chamber..so i tried the shallow socket. i just want to give it a twist to make it loose then i will screw it out by hand. one twist later................the shallow socket is now stuck inside the chamber...with the plug inside it..............help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!how can i get it out???????pls

Hey Youngpc  Sound like you are in a bit of bother. 5/8 socket is a no no as that's an imperial measurement not suitable, for Jap bikes are metric. Can you move the socket at all, and have you undone the spark plug at all. Can you get a bar into the socket, if yes spray some WD40 or inox around and try moving that way. Perhaps using a thin screw driver around the edge might assist in getting it to work.
The spark plug chamber is very tight on CBR's hence the fine spark plug provided by Honda.
Try this and keep us posted.        Phil

hi phil, i'm in tonnes of troubles. i think i have undone the spark plug a bit but not all..i have attached a illustration of the situation. the plug has obviously blocked the the entrance so i couldn't connect my torque wrench and pull it back up. i have tried using magnet but i think it moved like 0.000000000000001mm. i tried using a smaller needle nose plier. i manage to get into it but i can't move it. tried and failed pushing using my finger. anything else i can try?

    Hey Yong

Do you have 2 long stemmed flat head screw drivers, perhaps you can get them down between the plug head and the socket and expand them onto each side of the socket and lift it out that way.

    thanks

will try that now. but if it's able to be lifted that way shouldn't it be sucked up by the magnet as well? i wish i can just start the engine and let the small scale explosion push it back out.

You are in a heap of trouble with the plug out the top of the socket. I don't know if you can turn it to tighten the plug and hope that the socket will come loose, as it sounds like it is stuck on the plug when the socket turned but the plug hasn't moved.

Can you snap the top of the plug off to be able to get the drive clear and get your ratchet or extension onto the socket?

    Good luck

    Phil

are there two phil-s here or phil is having two acc? sorry guys wasn't on for a couple of days. got fade up. just a little update for you guys...the socket is out. well he practically laugh in front of me...wahaha....initially he tot it was a deep socket got stuck down there. he spent an hour taking that out. but here comes another problems...i sorta force that shallow socket in last time so the ceramic on the plug is broken..some bigger pieces are stuck down at the chamber so i'm gonna take it to the mechanics shop and let the tonnes of compressed air to blow then all out..hopefully it works.........and then he will take it from there afterwards...make it start and run....see what else need fixing and changing.

this is not the only mess i have caused :p

    thanks for your help guys.

thanks chris. anyway i'll try to start it tomorrow..i wanted to start it by today but i have no fuel...getting a jerry can by tomorrrow and enough fuel then i'm gonna start my baby...if it all works well i will get a roadworthy and rego before i hit the shop. i haven't changed the spark plug yet but i reckon it should be alright...spark plug might still work right? and the spark plug is blocking the pieces to drop into cylinder so it's all good...i think.
