Hi guys, how are we all? I've been going bike crazy lately and have struggling to keep my eyes on the prize of fixing up my newly acquired rgv. Anyway, I found a cbr250rr w/ tyga kit with minor drop damage and a hole in the bottom end of the motor (something went very, very wrong) He wants $1200ono, and quite frankly, I think he's dreaming. I was quoted $600-$800 for a running motor at the Japanese motorcycle dismantlers.. Doing the maths, you could probably pick up a rough running bike and save the headache and hidden costs etc however what if i could get the bike for less, say, $500-$700? Interested to hear some opinions.
When I did the zxr I think I did some unnecessary bits adding to cost but yeah if I was a bit strict and just did the motor I think it could be done. Providing he goes south of 1200 lol Yeah that's not the one but I did check that one out just then risky.

I wouldnt touch it with a 200Ft pole ..... well for $500 maybe I agree with risky (for a change ) Reading that ad brings me to the conclusion that he ,or one of his mates, has totally hammered it and done some serious damage. my beloved CBR , this bike is my pride and joy = loves it more than his mum but itching to flog it off ? one of the quickest learner bikes around ,TYGA FULL KIT ,Carbon fibre exhaust , better bike or even turbo car = boy racer = flogged bike He has no clue whats wrong with it but someone have a quick look probably could fix, but rebuild would be easier/ recommended unless you can DIY....... huh? can easily be repaired to the right person and I second hand motor can be easily be picked up for $500 ....huh? EFI Carby specialists .... huh? have to move out of my house and no where to store it .... huh? ..... but he has room for a better bike or a turbo car? but truth be told iv had very reasonable offers .... huh ? ..... then if its negotiable then why havnt u taken an offer? Ask him what now won't start means ..... is it totally dead , does the starter turn over? , does the motor turn over at all? Good analysis there grey, I did read the bit about swap for turbo car or bike but the contradicting no room. Sounds like a heap of crap. 'stuffed motor' ...... very technical description Have u asked him anything about what the problem is? Your 3 bargaining tools are obviously .... it doesnt run, its not registered and price is 'negotiable' , which means he wants it gone ASAP. The main thing is to find out if the motor is actually seized and wont turn over .... it may actually be something quite fixable. Ask him to put it in gear and push it to see if its locked up.
Yeah grey I asked him for more details, apparently there's a hole in the bottom end, so something has gone very bad there most likely cannot re furb the motor at all. He is probably sonorous to let it go heaps cheap as he probably paid a heap for it being a tyga etc.
