    Hi everyone
We have a gsx250 1983 when we first tried to put brake fluid in her it wouldn't drain down the line even loosening the air release of the brake pad and the front one as well, we cleaned the line put air through it and then used a syringe to inject the fluid into the brake line through the top and it worked. We are now putting it back together and the same thing we cannot get the fluid to flow down, when we pump the brake lever it slowly squirts out the release at the bottom but it still won't flow through properly and make the brake tight? Any suggestions , we tried for an hour last night using the syringe pumping it and releasing air, we bought a new brake cylinder as well.
We have left it over night so hopefully that will work but open to ideas

If you're not getting pressure, check your master cylinder pressure seal. You may have it on backwards (common mistake) or it is buggered.

Ok no good still with the front brakes I put clear hose on both the nipples and pit some brake fluid in them so I can see if it goes up and down.
When I pull the Brake in the fluid moves up the tube about 2 inches but that's it no pressure on the brake still, the seals appear to be ok.
I have taped the brake lever in and loosened one of the nipples and put the main cylinder cap on, I will leave it overnight to see if the pressure pushes our any air bubbles other than that I am stumped.
    Any other suggestions?
When I pull the lever in the front nipple releases brake fluid, the main brake caliper nipple mainly bubbles and brake fluid does come out.
On Tuesday i will check the seals again is their a picture if which way and what it should look like incase I have it wrong
    Thankyou everyone

Late night translation for the drunk guy!

What you want to do is 'bleed' the bubbles out of your brake lines.

To put simply, you bleed the bubbles out by pumping new fluid from the reservoir into your brake lines. The bubbles are bled out at the nipple that you opened on the caliper.

Each time you squeeze the brake (pull the lever in) you're pumping new fluid from the reservoir into your lines - keep doing this and topping up the reservoir while you go.

There should only be one bleed 'nipple' per brake caliper (but I may be wrong?)
Once your satisfied with the bleeding, tighten the nipple to prevent any fluid from leaking.

If you have an issue with seals, you'd be leaking brake fluid - unless it's your master cylinder seals...then you're up **** creek

hi ed, no the seals seem to be fine not losing any fluid, we have been doing exactly what you said "'Each time you squeeze the brake (pull the lever in) you're pumping new fluid from the reservoir into your lines - keep doing this and topping up the reservoir while you go"'.
their are two nipples one for the main brake calliper and another on the front, I think the other one is for an early attempt of abs (I could be wrong) their is another brake line that comes from the main brake calliper at the bottom and goes around to the front of the fork to the next nipple.
we have tried taping it up and opening the main nipple and leaving it over night but that didn't work either, their must be an air bubble right on the bottom

I have had a few where the bleed nipple is clogged up and doesn't work, its a $3 part, might be worth replacing

Still couldn't get the brakes will have to remove the calliper and see what's going on, in the mean time moved on to the wiring and couldn't resist sitting the tank and seat on to get some motivation ..., what do you think of the colours

Bike looks good, but may need a white stripe or something to break up the dark colour.

Are sure you are doing the bleeding properly man? "pump the lever 4 times, loosen the bleed nut and quickly tighten it while holding the break lever squeezed." is this what you are doing ? when you loos the bleed nut, air with some fluid will squirt out so iys better to plug a tube to the end of the bleed nut. you ll have to do that a several times to fill the caliper and the lines will new fluid while bleeding air out.

the front part is an anti dive unit. Stiffens the folk oil a little when you apply breaks . to prevent the folks from bottoming.

Hi gsxrkid, yeh bleeding the brakes exactly as you described my father inlaw is a mechanic who is doing the bike with me. We had the same problem the first time before we tore it down so we know they work. The next step will be to reverse bleed them but it won't be for a wk or two thankyou to everyone for the input so far
