    HI,
My name is Craig and i'm from Adelaide, SA.

I've been riding off road bike's for a long time now and thought i may as well get my bike licence so i can get out riding a bit more
So a month or so ago i finally got my bike L's and plan on getting my full bike licence.
i had planned to register my Enduro bike, Yamaha IT200L and use that to run around town,
but one afternoon i was browsing on Gumtree on, i spotted a bike that took my interest a 1990 3LN3 Yamaha FZR250, and it was reasonably cheap.
So i went and looked at it, it was a sale from a deceased estate, the owner had got sick and ended up passing away.
The bike had been in storage for the last 4 year's and had only been ridden a few time's in that time.
The original owner had left it to one of his mate's in his will, but he had lost interest in it so decided to sell it.
The bike had a flat battery, so we were only able to jump start it.
I was told the bike was started every now and then and had been on a few little ride's up the street and back only.
The new owner found the bike didn't have very good front brake's so he pulled them off and rebuilt them,
he also changed the oil, fitted some new spark plug's etc but it was still a little hard to start.
Anyway the bike looked ok, it did need a few bit's done to it to tidy it up, but i can do that stuff easy enough myself so i ended up buying it and bringing it home with me.
Here it is on my trip home

    :welcome:

Couple of things with the FZR... you will want to put the right size tyres on it. 100/80 or 100/70 on the front, and 130/70 on the rear. Both 17 inch rims.

You'll want to pull the carbs off and have a look at the needles and emulsion tubes. Visible wear means they need to be replaced.

Thank's, is my rear too wide ?
    Tyre's are 100/80/17 front Bridgestone BT45F Battlax, 140/70/17 rear Bridgestone BT45R Battlax
Carby's, i have just finished cleaning the fuel bowl's, jet's, emulsion tube's, slide's and port's etc today, got i back together this arvo and started it up (ran first go) then gave it a quick tune.
Mixture screw's were too lean, 4.5 turn's out and it start's easy and rev's nice.
No visible wear on the needle's or tube's
Bowl's had a bit of red dust in the bottom of them

    Much better :thumb_ups:

    How did the needles look?

And yes 140 on the rear is wider than standard. You'll want to put a 130 on there at some stage

Needle's were like new, had some slight brown stain's down the bottom, that wiped off easy, but there was no wear on them at all
The emulsion tube's have been out before,
some butcher must have done the work as there were some mark's around the shroud's at the top.
i've reworked them so they're now semi circle shaped again, no ovalised etc wear where the needle's sit
Carby 3 and 4 had their main jet's swapped around too, dodgy mechanic's lol !
