    Hello all,

Just thought I would post up a Howdy, I am relatively new to motorbikes, I bought my first one (1988 Yamaha FZR 250 2KR) almost 5 years ago, but it never saw the road. Finally when I sent the bike out to be rebuilt, the place went bust, & managed to get the bike back. In worse condition than what it went out in. So after looking at the costs, & time needed to put the bike on the street, I decided to purchase another, albeit slightly later model.

    I now have a 1990 FZR 250 3LN model, "Tech 21" Special Edition.

From what I know & seen, there are not many of these ones around. This is only the third one I have seen.

It does need some work, & is in need of a new fairing. (Its gone down hard one the right hand side) but after 20 years, there are some parts of the fairing that just need replacing from breakage.

Finding fairings for these is a little tough. Been in contact with Fairing Solutions Australia, but is yet to get back to me.

I really want to keep it in the original colours, but it does need to get on the road ASAP, as my mates place has bugger all room, but enough to work on the bike, where as mine doesnt. I just have enough to park it next to the Girlies car in the garage, with my car still outside. :(

Will probably be putting up a build thread soon, but just trying to source the parts & Fairing, & put it on the road, but just thought I would pop my head in.

    Cheers.

Hi mate :welcome: to the forum !

Thats a great looking machine .... that color scheme is very impressive.
Never heard of a "Tech 21" Special Edition .... Ill have to read up on that one.

A build thread is a must .... looking forward to following that. :thumb_ups:

As for the fairings, repairs and paint might be an easier option ..... have a word to Bob (a member here -
paint-your-ride ) at Ace of Sprays , http://aceofsprays.com.au/ ..... he is in Queensland and has done a few of the guys bikes from here.

In case u dont already have these , parts cat. etc here .....

Look forward to a build thread, always enjoy watching a machine come back to life.
Also like your colour scheme, different to anything I've seen before.

    Hey Revolver,

Welcome to the forum, to the best of knowledge, the Tech 21 was only released as a FZR250 2Kr in August of 1988 alongside the Nescafe Amerciana, If yours is a 3LN, then its been painted in Tech 21 livery but I dont belive it left the fatcory like that.

Still, it looks cool as and i dont think you will see another 3LN like that

    Cheers

    Chris

Yes, that is either a Lotus Elise or Exige.

See I thought that the "Tech 21" specials were 2kr's as well. But I did see another 3LN in the same colours.

If it has been a re-do, they did a good job. Under the tank has been painted, & all the fairing panels as painted well. Clear coated over the stickers too.

    Interesting.
