does anyone know the correct size fork seal for the 1989 model fzr250r.

I did some reseach and found out that the fzr250r and the fzr400 have the same size tubes which is 38mm, and the 400 fork seals size are 38mm X 50mm X 8mm. SO iam guessing that the seals would work on the fzr250r forks.

If iam wrong let me know.

Just to make sure - it is a 3ln model fzr that you have? (1989 bikes can be either 2kr or 3ln - I have a 2kr built in 1989 according to the stampings).

If so it looks like you would be correct. If it is a 3ln dealers will sometimes have part numbers available for them - phone and ask.

The 2kr forks are the same as on the rz250rr (housemate has one of these so I can confirm that one).

no worries - to be perfectly honest I had no clue what I was quoting there! All I knew is that I was repeating the specs from the manual.

I have never dropped my bike, and only close once (while using a impact driver to take the tank cover off...). If I were to drop my bike I will do it in style:

And about my avatar - you are correct: motorcycle guy on kids play equipment. Caught my fancy when I found it, so I made it my avatar. Below is a better quality image:

Have you seen the cintered knee pads that you can get for leathers? That way when you get your knee down on the pavement there are sparks being left behind.

Never had my knee down, and scraped the hero knobs only twice, for that matter don't even have knee pads on my pants, so this is second hand experience (vids on bikemovies.com)
