Here goes im rebuilding a set of fzr250r carbs. My question is what causes free play in the slides, 2 are perfectly tight and two have free play in them but if i swap one from carb 2 to 3 the free play remains in that carb rather than changing with the slide?? Very confused with this as thought it was the diaphragm but now it dont know :-( help much appreciated

Im not sure if it would be that as the bike has only 22km on it and wouldn't all 4 be worn out then? Its really bugging me now as it will cause problems in the first 1/4 of throttle i have 3ln1

Ah i forgot to mention the play is upwards like weak spring or diaphragm bt this doesnt seem to be the case either

They're all grey imports, the clocks are not to be trusted. It could 122k kilometres

Shh now thats blasphemy lol i found the problem all be it a stupid one, the needle is not pushing on the slide due to someone replace the two brass screws with the holes for the needles on the jet housing with normal screws with no hole for the needle!! So now i need to know where to get two of these brass screws? Ebay perhaps? Its part 16 on the exploded diagram of the carb

That would be brilliant! Or even if someone here had a yamaha part number for it them my nearest yamaha fairly far away but the brass screws are surely inexpensive even from yamaha?

I would say yes ..... as we have discovered here lately , new and correctly operating needles and tubes make all the difference.
