Anyone got a preferred method and sealing an aftermarket slip on pipe at the exhaust manifold where it slips on male / female and is retained by the springs? I normally use high temp silicon but it breaks down over time. Hate getting oil and crap in the belly pan over time.
Says it is good for 500 degrees C. Have it on my Maico to stop it leaking at pipe fitting and it gets pretty hot sometimes in the bush, and so far so good. (Note; this stuff is so sticky that panelbeaters use it to hold plastic bumpers/strips on when the clips break off!)
what about exhaust cement? http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/on...ment-Brown-145G.aspx?pid=1449#Recommendations
That is ok for a fixed manifold on a cylinder head as it sets hard, but a two stroke exhaust needs a slight bit of movement from vibrations and I have never found the hard setting stuff to last.
Ah I see what you mean.. because its a sleeve and springs holding it on, it would move a lot so the vibrations and slight movement would crack the cement.. they use this stuff for go-karts Wurth High Temperature Silicone Exhaust Sealant http://www.rsracing.org/wurth-high-temperature-silicon-sealer-for-exhaust-241-p.asp
