Hi all, New to the group, and I am hoping to get myself a GT250 (I have my eye on a 1979 X7). So what things do I need to look out for?. Where is the best place to look for replacement parts (I know that the petrol tank has a rust hole and needs a rear light, gear lever, RH side panel, an original rear wheel - and probably more bits when I get started!). BTW I am in Victoria, Australia. Thanks, Arthur Oh, and if this purchase falls through, any help on where to look for another bike?.
Hey Arthur Welcome to the forum, send a pm to Phil , he has recently done an x7 and is in the know Cheers Chris
Hi Arthur Ive nearly finished a tidy up of an 81 x7 and the only real problems so far is finding a headlight glass and a decent brake master cylinder .I have the master cylinder on the way from uk and am hopeing it fits because they will try and answer your questions with alternatives that we are not sure will work and seem reluctant to send photos .. The other problem i find is a lot of the spares websites list everything but an x7.Anyhow i think we have to work out what parts from other models will fit and it just means being patient. Welcome to the forum and let us know how you go i am quit willing to share any info i can .I like my x7 so much im looking for another one . See Ya Bob
Hi All, Without starting a new thread thought might ask the question here. I am in adelaide and thinking if getting a 250 2 strk. When I was in my early 20s back in india rd's were very popular. Always wanted one. Not much on thr market here. there is a suzuki gt 250x7 going cheap and running condition. I like the look of the original gt250 with spoke wheels. If I get it is it going to be a hard conversation. Also how to source a gt250 pre x7 models. Thanks.
Hi Arthur I have just finished breathing new life into a x7 and this info should help. Some parts are available on e bay or most of the uk Suzuki parts dealers but postage is very high and slow I have found discount bike spares to be good .Rear lights, panels and levers are on ebay. The fuel tanks on these models are very thin so I just used a 3 treatment liner and it has worked well . Rear wheel will be expensive so I suggest you source a second hand one .If you have problems with the front brake lever with its wires and the little pin inside it I know where I can get you one . I have fond mine to be a great light fast easy to work on bike and would love to do another later on. feel free to talk if you want more . Bob
