Can't help on the sounds. For oil though I have been using a 4-stroke oil that Shell produces. I think it is 10W30 or something (can't be sure). This should be stamped on your engine - just under the oil filler cap it should say the type of oil to use.

    Hey Dark Kahn !

Well I think my bike pretty much identical to yours mine is a 97 Fzr-250

Before you think it's somthing complex/difficult to fix look for something easy !

An example is. If you only hear the noise at idle, which is when the bike shakes the most at lowish revs then look for something which could be loose like a missing rubber in the fairing or loose fittings on the rear foot pegs. there are plenty of things it could be

just an idea to think about man

I did that ,thanks . But the noise definately comes from the engine as I had the whole bike apart . Its quite worrying , but does not hinder the performance of the bike .

    hahaha

Man this should go down in history!!!!!!!!!!!

I have come across about a dozen people with this noise and about 75% of them were fixed by this simple thing.

Im not saying this is YOUR noise but it might be. Ok what your bike has is an EXUP valve. It is in that odd shaped bit on the exhust (sits under the oil sump). Now what it does is the valve inside that exhuast chamber moves at diffrent revs to make the bike have more tourqe/power. What happens after time is that the cables that the servo motor uses to move the EXUP valve stretch. What you have to do it take off the 2 side pannels on the left hand side (if you were sitting on the bike). At the rear up under the rear seat is a servo motor with 2 cables attached. Well on the cables is too addjustments start ya bike up and play with these cable adjustments till the noise goes away.

It works, if its not this that is making the sound then i would say it is ya cma chain rattling as it wouldnt be your cam chain tensoner as that is spring loading and asjusts it self.

I would also look to see if the EXUP cables need to be replaced maybe they are strected past the use by date.
